The jump pilot's job is to get the plane back on the airport before the jumpers land. This expedites the next jump. This guy performed basic manuvers that is required by any commercially rated pilot.

Looks like fun, huh?

Why do they call it "common sense" when, in fact, it has become so uncommon?

I don't know anything about jumping out of planes but do they normally shut down one of the engines too? It looked to me like the right side engine all but stoped.

Any landing you walk away from is a good landing


The slow propeller rotation is an effect caused by the camera speed.

I never understood why anyone would want to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft

The engines never stopped, it is simply the timing of the frame rate of the video camera to the RPM of the props. This is also the case when you are watching a video of a car, if you watch the wheels they will somtimes appear to stop moving or even move in reverse while the care continues to move forward the whole time. This is the same principle that allows your timing light to make the timing mark on your pulley stand still. In that case that light (a strobe light) is timed to flash at the same rate as your motor is turning. If the light went just a little faster than the rpm then the mark would seem to move backwards if the light went just a little slower than the rpm the mark would seem to move forward.

Very cool landing though. The guy gets paid by the number of sky divers he takes up to jump hight, the faster he gets down the more times he can go up.

I always heard any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, and any landing you can walk away from and still use the plane is a GREAT landing.

Not to bore you with repost's or highjack a thread but there's nothing like it and if you've never done it "Do It"! You'll love it and be spun up for two weeks after being amazed at your brave self. The one thing I remember best is sitting over the side of the aircraft, looking down and thinking "damn that's a long way down, let's do it". You'll see a pic of my wife looking down but I don't think she's in a hurry to jump.

Edelbrock E-Force 1593 & Magnaflow exhaust for that healthy American sound. Before SC 354 RWHP, after SC 484 RWHP. That's all I can do and still pass California smog.
