Open Letter to the News Room
....this is my last posting in the news room for it has been
insinuated that I have been pushing my beliefs upon members
here as indicated in their post, you can have make this your
hour of triumph by patting yourselves on your backs because
now everyone agrees with each other and you can stand back
and admire your work, I have only expressed my opinions
and never indicated their are the answers to the problems
only a thought, and if I questioned an aspect of your beliefs
it was to further my understanding of your ideas, some
people think they can drive others to believe they have
become the cornerstone of idealism, this is only to let you
know my presence there becomes distasteful to some, good luck......

92, I have enjoyed debating with you on political topics these past few weeks. We seem to be on opposite sides of the issues sometimes, but I am not interested in a world where there are only one set of notions.
I feel that your debate has been honest and respectful and I appreciate your viewpoints (almost as much as the pics and videos )
I have just recently become an every day user of this forum, after many years of membership. I enjoy the balance of news room, lounge, and Corvette discussions. I also enjoy that it is OK here to disagree with fellow members on one thread, and agree on another. I like the fact that I can read the viewpoints of intelligent people who have beliefs and opinions different from mine. It helps me to challenge my beliefs and, on occasion, has resulted in my reconsidering a position or two.
I hope you reconsider and keep the balance of right-left in check with further challenge and debate!

That's crap. I have yet to see a post where you pushed your beliefs on anyone in here. Besides, most of the posters in here push their beliefs, that is the idea of debating, put forth your beliefs, back it up with facts and try to get others to see your side. There is absolutely no reason for you or anyone else to stop posting in here and joining in the fun/craziness of political discussion.

Why do they call it "common sense" when, in fact, it has become so uncommon?
That's my opinion, it outta be your's. |

Extreme taxation, excessive controls, oppressive government competition with business, frustrated minorities and forgotten Americans are not the products of free enterprise. They are the residue of centralized bureaucracy, of government by a self-anointed elite. - Ronald Reagan |

You should not let anybody drive you to silence your beliefs or concerns for anybody or our country. It is the freedom of speech that makes us strong and the strength of our convictions that drive us forward. I am not eloquent in my wording or so learned in my spelling, but I would not let anybody quiet my voice.
And I hope you do not as well.
Don't let them !

92 don't let anyone discourage you from posting here.
If someone doesn't agree with anothers' viewpoint . . . who cares! There are alot of postings here that are nothing more than banter.
Continue to do what you do

Hang in there 92. We all know that minds are never changed in the newsroom. So the whole thing amounts to a digital version of banging our heads against a wall. Most people understand that when you make a point, it's your opinion and you aren't trying to coerce anybody to share it. Hope you reconsider!

I'm not sure I can take this thread seriously.
The guy who's motto is to never give up is taking a hike?? It's just an internet website 92. Don't take it so seriously. Take a breather and get back to punching the keyboard.
Lighten up Francis!

C'mon now quitter , you're more than just a clever cat video or something else as interesting. I rarely post on the news forum and when I do it's only to let someone know how really stupid I think they are. Nothing they say can ruin my day nor will it change my mind.
Most folks on the "News area" are just idealistic idiots that have no idea how things are going to turn out and they are only expressing their hope that things get better......one way or the other. Optimism is fun to watch because I know that they'll crash and burn with their ideology. I'm just smiling and waiting for the day and you should be there also. It'll be fun.

Oh, the drama.
Most of the time, most of us here read or see something that sparks a need to, shall we say, "copy, paste, and post", which represents the poster's feeling, good or bad, or just wants to let others know about the subject.
Some folks like to "scoop" a story, have that very first post on what is perceived to be "news worthy". Then of course sit back and wait for the comments, good, bad, or indifferent. That's just the human nature part of us, and to a certain extent, the person's way of garnishing some attention their way. We all have a little bit of that in us.
Since I'm a relative new comer to this site (but seasoned on others) I see the same pattern of politcal discourse, pros and cons of a subject, the insistence of some to make another believe their point of view is the right one, etc. When the discourse starts that you know is not winable on either side, I move along to another thread.
Anything that is said on these sites will change nothing with respect to religion, abortion, politics, gun control, et al. It has all been said before ad nauseam, if not here, at all the other thousands of blogs and forums.
Now that I have completely made an ass of myself, I will continue to read what I think is interesting, comment if needed (for my sake, no one else's) and do the "C, P, & P" routine just to see who's looking.

Gunny, You are one of the most admirable & toughest people I have known anywhere or on a stupid forum giving your 2 cents.
I learned quite some time ago to read through your slightly demented posts & understand 100 % your thoughts, personal ideology, & wicked smart that only comes with living life to its fullest 150%- foot on the floor board- engine singing at 9K RPM's & - valves are floating- and your giving the peace sign of your own reconnaissance to everyone that takes time to read---- THE BIRD.
You have my respect.
