C4 Door Questions

Hi Everyone,
New to the forum here. I've been looking around the site, but unfortunately haven't found what I am looking for as yet. I have a few questions.....First, has anyone posted, or can they post, the directions for removing the actual driver and passenger door on these C4's? Are there any wiring disconnects for the door so I don't have to snake the wiring out through the door?Also....I have the driver's side door mostly disassembled and see a rectangular plastic piece that is wrapped around it's perimeter in what appears to be copper wiring that is riveted to the inside of the door skin? Any ideas as to what it is? Antenna?!? Thanks in advance

Dont know if 94 had any connectors but I know I havent found any in any of the vettes I have had. If you have to fish the wiring out of the door dont forget about the power mirror wiring up high and forward. Easy to miss and the retaining clips are hard to find and easy to break. BTW there is also a PKE antenna at the rear hatch wall under the carpet.

Thanks for the info guys. I looked for images of the PKE antenna after reading your posts. That is definitely what it is. I know there are no electrical connections where the wiring goes into the body. I figured they were probably under the dash somewhere. Mainly wonering how far in they were buried and how much I'd have to disassemble if I didn't take the wiring out through the door.

You are welcome. I gotta ask though - why are you removing the doors?

In the middle of doing a complete repaint of the car and they just seem to come out that much nicer and slicker with less color sanding and buffing needed. Besides that...unless you put the car up on blocks, you practically have to lie on your back to get the bottom of the doors :P

Ok makes sense now. Repaint with full teardown will get paint in areas otherwise inaccessable. If you go with a metallic then make sure you shoot the doors positioned as they will hang on the car. If you lay them flat the metallic will not match and the color will look very different when you reinstall them on the car. Found this out the hard way. Has to do with the way gravity pulls on the paint and metallic. All the little things do matter in certian situations. Good luck with it.
