Re: Mother of twins shoots intruder

I wonder if this story will make national news?? I posted the link as well since there was a vid clip.

http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/20506821/homeowner-shoots-intruder-in

WALTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
There were frightening moments for a Loganville family forced to fight back against a robber chasing them in their own home Friday afternoon.
A mom and her twin 9-year-old children tried hiding near the attic - but the crook wouldn't back down.
Police say the crook was armed with a crow bar and the terrified woman inside the home opened fire on the crook, striking him five times.
It all happened around noon Friday at the Henderson Ridge subdivision in Walton County.
Investigators say Paul Lee Slater is in critical condition and in an intensive care unit at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.
Cops said Slater used a crowbar to bust open the front door, and when he heard the woman call out to her children, he gave chase.
Investigators said Slater then chased the family into a crawl space near the attic - and when he opened a door, the mother opened fire striking him five times.
Police said Slater stumbled out of the house, got into a car and crashed into a tree line in an apparent get-away attempt.
The woman and her children ran to a neighbor's home for help. Vernon Rumphrey is thankful she had a firearm during the home-invasion.
"Thank God the homeowner had a .38," said Rumphrey. "I'm not saying you should shoot people but you're going to defend your young children, for a woman, I think you should have a weapon."
Police don't think the family was specifically targeted, just that Slater didn't realize anybody was home.
Slater also has an extensive criminal history according to police.

Damn! She put 5 pieces of hot lead in his ass! Good for her! I wish she had a bigger caliber weapon or a semi-auto. With shooting like that, she could have made his ass into a pin cushion!

thats one good example of why I taught the wife how to use a 12 ga riot gun loaded with #4 buck if shes seriously threatened in the home
and why we have redundant alarms, several key chain panic buttons, better locks and cell phones

Good for her. I am sure that she feels horrible about shooting another human being, but takes solace in the fact that the bad guy was not chasing her for her chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Grumpy, Benelli M2. Nice iron. There is no finer short-range defensive weapon than a Benelli semi-auto shotgun. Mine holds 10 rounds of 00 Buck shot. God forbid I ever need to use it, there will be no driving away for anyone on the business end.

You can bet THAT story WON´T make the 6:00 news. But good for her she took care of business and protected her family. The NRA should buy time on every major network and show this everywhere.

So she got the job done with a .38. Outstanding work! More stories like this might deter criminals.

Of course there is a flip side...Notice she didn't need a 30 round magazine of 50cal bullets to make it happen. And 5 shots and the guy is still breathing? Someone needs to go to the range.

Too bad this one didn't have a gun... if the gun grabbers had their way we would all be at the mercy of criminals.

FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A woman is recovering from gunshot wounds after burglars broke into her Fairburn-area home and found her hiding in a closet.

According to the police report, Melissa Burke told police she heard the suspects break into her Estonian Drive home just before midnight Thursday. The thieves first rang the doorbell and when no one answered, police said they went in through the back door. Burke called 911 and hid inside a closet. They found her there and shot her multiple times.

Burke's uncle can't comprehend how and why someone would hurt her.

"She was a sweet, loving, caring person who would do anything for anyone anytime, that's her," Otis Burden said."

Because criminals do, criminal shit and laws don't apply to them.

Hell, there are COPS that can't put 5 rounds on a target in that same situation! I say she's a damn good shot!

I disagree. I say she needed a 30 round clip and 50 cal so she could finish the job. 5 weren't enough he needed at least six or more and a bigger clip would've provided that.

If they don't need dental records to ID the body, you didn't do it right.
