For those who think the rear resembles a Camaro

Reason: Added Camaro for comparison

I think it looks about as much like Camaro as the C6 rear looks like a GTR... that is to say: it has the same number of taillights with a vaguely similar geometric shape, and that's it; the similarities end there.

It looks damn good in that picture, Camaro taillights and all. I'll take it!

GM shared taillights from 70-73 with the Camaro and I don't see anyone hating on those cars. Manufacturers use lines or ideas through their lines it happens get over it.
BMW and Pontiac use the split grill, all Aston Martins use that step down grill, Porsche hasn't had an original thought it 50 years.

It's not about Camaro tail lights...
It's about design. And the execution of the C7 rear end is unattractive beyond belief. Literally.
And the clown make up vents. Functional/Nonfunctional/Disfunctional... doesn't matter. Clumsy and inept, AT BEST.
Overall a dramatic design thwarted by a rear end from hell.

The perceived problem here is in 70-73 the taillights trickled down from the halo car. Today the taillights appear to have trickled up from the lesser car.

Except the lights on the C7 aren't the same lights as the Camaro even though they both have the same basic trapazoidal shape.
Let's be honest though... Round tail-lights on that design with nothing else unchanged would look terrible and probably not match the rest of the car.
Everyone has their opinion they are entitled too but it would look like even more of a disaster if they kept the lights round and left everything else unchanged from that rear.

As for the taillights, I'll be interested to see how they stand out on the road, in traffic and at night. Will we still see Camaro as plain as we do here? Camaro-ish aside, purely as a style, I'm pretty certain my eyes won't initially detect any "Corvette" from behind and that's why I'm let down.

And the $450,000+ Carrera GT borrowed most of its design cues from the lesser $60,000 Boxster. Who gives a shit?! A badass car is a badass car. Period.

I can't believe someone will pay half a million plus to get the rights to buy the first one this Saturday at Barrett-Jackson.

Dan. The Germans have never gotten anything wrong. They simply improve on that which they were assuredly correct on the entire time.
