Just a little note about that fancy dancy quarter window they stuck there on the side

Again the designers peeked back at yet another design and came up with that little jem.
09 Pontiac Solstice Coupe..... produced a huge blind spot in that car just as it will with the C7.

From the outside it looks like a full window, but it is just a portion of the actual size in viewing area. Most of it is blacked out on the inside of the glass.

It's not an issue in the Sol. There isn't much car back there. Also the way the Vette's more raked and pinched in should solve it.

Until you sit in the car how can you tell if there will be a blind spot or not?

Set your side mirrors CORRECTLY and you will have VERY LITTLE need to check "blindspots" anyway.

The 13 Shelby I just bought has little convex mirrors at the tips of the driver and passenger side mirrors. I thought was a great idea since I have put those little mirrors on all my vehicles in the past including my Vette. Those little mirrors help out tremendously.

Dodge got the rear quarter windows right by turning them into intake scoops... corvette put it on the rear fender... guess they did not want to be accused of making it look too much like a viper.

Its a shame that the Saturn Sky was not offered in the coupe before it was killed off. IMO, the Sky was (is) one of GM best designs.

Why do they call it "common sense" when, in fact, it has become so uncommon?

That's my opinion, it outta be your's.

Have you ever seen a demonstration on the "NO ZONE"? It's where they take a Semi, place 8 vehicles in the known NO ZONES around the vehicle and then you get in side and see how they dissapear from the drivers view in perfectly set mirrors.

Engineered blind-spots are unforgivable, I own a 09 Sol Coupe, and looking out the tunnel is a real pain.

Yes. I am....but we're talking about a Corvette...not an 18 wheeler.

And even with tight rearward vision, with the side mirror set correct, blind spots minimal.

I bet 75% of the people here do NOT have then adjusted correctly.

Maybe, its because I'm 6'4" and I sit further back, but I find the B pillar of the last two generations gives a large blind spot.

The new design doesn't give the best visibility either but it is quite hard to accurately judge until we can sit in one.

Hasn't the racing team been closing off a part of the hatch glass on the C5R and C6R cars? Perhaps the new rear window configuration is simply a response to this.

IRCC the entire hatch area is walled off.

The Corvette never had a window there in the past anyway, so what difference does it make
