Stingray Styling

There's actually more Stingray styling in the C7 then many people would like to admit...especially from the 2010 Concept.

Thanks for putting this together Chris.

I am glad others see the relationship as well. Of course, people will STILL say it looks like a Viper, a GT-R, a Camaro, a Ferrari, etc....

I like the C7 and will probably buy one a few years out. But I don't like the Stingray moniker on the C7. I don't see much resemblence to the original Sting Ray/Stingray and although the C7 is a nice design, it is NO design comparison to the 1963. If Welburn and the other idiots wanted to be so revolutionary with this design why did they bring back a fifty year old nameplate? It's counterproductive. I'd be ok with it if the 'Stingray' was the high performance model, but not the base C7. It's almost as bad as the recent Lincoln commercial where they attempt to compare some tarted up and rebadged shitbox Ford sedan to the iconic 1961 Continental.

"People welcome innovation...it's change they don't like."

A quote from my old marketing professor.

We're seeing a lot of that among would-be fans of the C7. Pretty simple really.

Calling Welburn an idiot seems a bit silly. His team just brought us the best performance Vette ever. And in the eyes of what seems to be the overwhelming majority, the form and function seem to be well matched.

I think GM did a stellar job.

I think the decision to call the C7 "Stingray" has more to do with the proliferation of models during the C6 era. When all was said and done, the "original" C6 became the "base" model or "narrow body" etc....none of those monikers seem very sexy from a marketing standpoint. So, now we'll have the "Stingray" and "Z?" and whatever else.

My pleasure. Be aware that my post is what I "THINK", not what I "KNOW". In the Jay Leno video with Ed, Welburn immediately corrects Jay for using the word "base", so, this being the internet and all, why let facts rule when one can come up with an idea of why the C7 is now called Stingray.

Oh, it's there allright...

But a real stretch. So subtle as to be just "barely there..." More than anything, the new Stingray evokes the C3. Which is just fine with me...
