Patrick...just curious. You have stated numerous times in various ways that the C7 tail-lights were influenced by Camaro. Do you know this as fact, or is it that you personally think they look enough alike that you drew that conclusion?

well, no small number of my friends, some car guys, some car ambivalents, some girls, some MY girl, have commented "camaro" when they see the rear.
Do they look different? yes. Is the similarity striking? I'd say yes. do the corvettes lights and rear look different in real life? yes. But WORSE, the Camaros rear is superior, as its at leats not ridiculously over busy. There are like 30 (conservatively, very conversatively) polygons vying for attention on the rear of the C7. Its literally an origami experiment. Its awful. The Camaros rear looks pretty decent.

Only one way to make up for the Rear Tail styling Mistake on the C7 Corvette.
Give it over 1,000 Rear Wheel Horsepower.
450 HP just plain sucks in 2013 for a $50K + car.
Build it so the C7 runs into the Deep 9's 1/4 mile stock with a good driver behind the wheel.
Give it a top speed over 250 MPH.
Afterwards, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Lotus, and so on will quit laughing so hard.
Just Bugatti will be serious competition.
Round rear tail light belong on a Corvette.
Its an American Icon.
Corvette is Not a Ricer car with a squirrel under the hood.

The above stated Performance Goals can be obtained if Chevrolet Teams Up again with Callaway Motors in CT.
Twin Turbo with dual intercoolers.
Just as was done from 1987 to 1991.
Rear wheel torque #'s should be 1,200 to 1,400 ft/lbs with today's technology.
1,000 HP on a bad day.

LOL.
Maybe.
If the New C7 has to appeal & look like the 1st Fast & Furious Nissan Skyline the undercover FBI agent street raced..........
At Least make it go as fast as was shown on the Silver Screen.
Like Blowing away VIN Diesel's Blown 426ci Hemi Dodge Charger.
Cost a small fortune to retool to correct styling mistakes.
Best thing you C6 owners wanting a New Corvette & want to stay Cool & Feel good about your purchase for years down the road.............
Get together as a group & Complain out loud for more Horsepower & Torque.
The Callaway Family in Connecticut will deliver.
And people say C4 Corvettes like my 87 Vert are bland in styling...........after seeing that ass end on the C7 up close.... I am glad & proud of my 87.

I get that...I've heard it from friends. People make associations, and the general shape reminds people of the Camaro.
And that's not the point of this thread. I just want to know if anyone knows as fact that the C7 tail-lights were influenced by Camaro. This is not about opinion.
I look at the illustrations that you see in various GM videos, and they had many, many designs to choose from.
Again, as another member pointed out...there were years when Camaro and Vette tail-lights were identical.

In my opinion, the rear has to be the best looking part of the Corvette, since it will be the most viewed side by other drivers most of the time.
I think this back end is the busiest looking design ever.

GM has used the 5th Gen Camaro to influence Chevrolet's brand image. They then applied THAT to the C7.

Funny that no one has compared the C7 corvette to cadilliac, the sharp edged design that's current on the new caddys, price wise, new "lacs & vettes have always been comparable! The camaro taillites on the C7 are more comparable to the styling design corvette that everyone raved about, than the camaro, the general gave a taste of what people wanted, only to get critiqued for it!
