Survey for Side pipes

This spring I will putting up my loaded 71 4spd (see avatar) and I would like to hear from everybody for their opinions on side pipes - will they help the sale or be a put off? Note: They are flawless Hooker headers and pipes that have no miles.

They will probably add to the sale but it depends on the buyer. I wouldn't use them but if I liked the car I would just take them off and sell them.

I have them on my beige 81.
Black Hooker headers and side pipes.
They are of no benefit and are just okay
to me.
Everyone else always says they look
and sound good.
Not much help, I know but it is what it is.

BTW I think your ride looks fine.

I love them since i have them on mine **

but if your car is more stock then maybe take them off **

then you have buy a total new exaust system for it **

maybe ask the buyer if he wants side pipes or undercar exaust but then who will pay the cost to change it **

Maybe you could give the buyer the choice, if he/she doesn't want them you can probably sell for enough to get an under car set installed.

I've even have an original set of usable under car pipes (including mufflers) laying alongside the house you can have (free) if you can come to sunny northern California to pick them up. Or if you want to arrange the shipping, they can come and pick up on your behalf. Came off a 67000 mile car, they are not perfect but with a little love they could be used.

Sorry I'm not going mess with shipping them.

Some people like them and some don't, but these cars aren't so hard to sell that you need to start offering potential buyers exhaust options. lol

What difference does it make? If twelve people reply to this thread, six will say they will help the sale; six will say they'll hurt value.

For potential buyers, a third will like them, a third will not, and the remaining third won't know they aren't stock.

IMO, one of the best features of the early C3 is the beautiful rear end. That rear end is much less attractive without the chrome duals exiting their ports. While the side view is great with the sidepipes, I think the overall look is a downgrade. I would get the stock exhaust back on it.

Just a thought. You might lose a sale if you tell them about the burn possibility without a set of shields on the sidepipes but that might be better than not telling them, going for a test drive and having them put their hand or leg on them getting out. You could compair the money difference between a set of shields or a under the car exhaust, either way half will say keep them and half will say replace them. Your choice.

IMO, they are. A 71 muscle car will sell much faster than compared to a like-wise condition 71 'vette (around here).
I like to put a reasonable price on things and sell fast and get it over-with. There's a lot of vettes around here that sit for sale for years and they still don't sell - why bother?

I like to present things for sale in a very straight forward way. If something's wrong I'll point it out. If I can fix an oil leak - I will. I'm hoping I will find somebody who can appreciate my attitude
I have a stock exhaust system, it's not an option, but it can be switched if it turned out to be a deal-breaker and I could likely sell the header/side pipes for some decent money. I just wanted to see what's favored, I know this survey is far from scientific.
Personally, I like totally stock but this white and blue looks good with Chrome showing!

My wife has been totally on board with my build but the only condition she had was that she insisted on having side pipes. I could have gone either way on the subject, but she's the boss and if all I have to do to keep her happy is put side pipes on a vette then so be it.
Point is.. Some will love them some will not. I would think do whatever is easiest for you and find the ones that do..
Either way, nice looking ride.
