Video doesn;t show entire incident but regardless once the dog was secured there was no reason to shoot it. They could have gotten animal control to take it away. If it was deemed vicious they could have put it down better than a couple of bullets. I say the police way overreacted on this

Looks like the second shot was for mercy. With no sound I can only guess it was being vicous by the way it was dragging him around even though it was lashed.
You should google pictures of dog attack victoms before you judge any police officers who desire not to be bitten.
Over 4 1/2 million people are bitten by doggs each year.
Last year 885,000 required medical attention.
In 2006 31,000 people needed medical reconstruction due to dog bites.
Thats just the facts. I have a dog, I love him and wouldn't want him to have to be shot, but if I thaught for a moment he was going to bite any one (he shouldn't), I'd shoot him myself.
People are more valuable than doggs. Period.

The dog was secured on a pole. Unless that officer dropped the pole nothing in that video showed me that the dog was gonna bite. But again we did not get to see everything and what I saw leads me to believe that shooting was not necessary.

Have you ever heard the frase " Careful you don't catch a Tiger by the tail"?
Sure he was on the pole, but he was also dragging him around and trying to get free. If he had escaped his grasp, and gotten the pole jerked from his hands, then he would have been dangerous to everybody around. A mean pissed off Pit Bull can kill you. Just ask anybody that knows dogs.
Trust me, officers don't want to shoot dogs. Its alot of paperwork if you have to. Plus the owners will undoubtedly sue you.
Especialy that officer who looked to be a dog handler (we don't all cary those poles around with us). His day probably turned to crap when he had to do that.

I just LOVE, hope you notice the sarcasm, how all of you just love to take a video you see of Police and throw your snide comments in about how the cops are wrong!! If you haven't done the job, get the whole story before you make your decisions on the officers!! If you have done the job or are currently doing it, you should know that you don't know what you would do in the situation until you're in it!! What if that pit has just mauled a 2-yr old to death, or attacked a elderly woman out walking and critically injured her?? Don't make your assumptions unless you know the whole story!!! That same cop you love to put down.....just might be the one to pull you out of a burning car or put a tourniqet on a severe injury to keep you from bleeding out or might just get to your house in time when someone has broken in on your young daughter who is alone while you're out and saves the day!!! We personally get tired of all the crap when 9 times out of 10 the offender is in the wrong and knows it and just likes to blame that sorry officer because they would never do anything wrong!!! Ok, I'm off my soapbox now!!!

Again that video doesn't show the entire incident but from what I saw I did not see a dog trying to attack just get away. we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this.

Disagree all you want!! Isn't it convenient that all the anti-cop people only choose to put the parts of the video in that make the officers look bad and NEVER the whole video!! The officers responded for a REASON, they just didn't happen to be driving by and see a dog and decide to catch it and start shooting!!!

Dude I'm not anti cop my brother and sister-inlaw, her brother, and my uncle are all cops. I don't know what happen before that video started and stated that but what I saw did not warrant shooting. If that video showed you a reason to shoot I just don't or didn't see it.

I bet you would see it if you were on the other end of that pole with a 65lb muscled up pissed off ball of teeth dragging you around and you were getting tired and out of breath and your grip was getting weaker and you were about to lose it.
Then you would know exactly what we were talking about!

..I don't know what part of "Restrained" is not understandable,
would the same logic be used in a human perp....
..it makes no difference if the officer did or did not what to
be bitten, the dog was restrained pure and simple, the dog
was on the restrained on the ground on its side and tail
wagging, I certainly would not want this officer come to my
home on a 911 call considering his logic....
