Engine Serial Numbers

I recently purchased an 88 Vette and I am trying to document it as much as possible,I am trying to find the engine block number(to see if the eng. is orig) but can't seem to locate it,can anyone give me an idea of where on the block I would be able to find the numbers,and if there are any other numbers on the car to match the Vin,Great site Thanks Guys for the help

Passenger side front. It'll be right in front of the head on a pad. My 72 has the partial VIN along with the suffix code. You can look the suffix code up on NastyZ28.com

Original 88 Vette engine will be stamped with engine suffix ; ZMA or ZMD for a auto
ZMC for a manual
as well as the previously noted partial VIN
