Why do Tic Tac's have an expiry date?

How can a Tic Tac expire? Do they gain calories or what?

Does sugar go bad? How long does it take? Actually, these are already expired. Aug 7/07.

As with any other food, it depends on the conditions.

It's a hermetically sealed Tic Tac case.

I bet it also has to do with lawsuits. If you put an expiration date on it, someone 30 years down the road can't sue you for nasty Tic-Tacs.

All of you are completely and utterly wrong, wrong, wrong. Allow Thrakk to straighten you out on this one.

Tic-Tacs and all other mints chemically transform after a certain length of time. If you ever saw that Gilligan's Island episode where Gilligan finds some clay and uses it it fix his teeth and make dishes and then they find out it's an explosive and the monkey gets a hold of it and hilarity ensues - you already know what will happen if you eat a Tic Tac even ONE DAY after it expires.

It turns into a highly unstable compound that explodes upon contact with saliva.

You people need to watch a lot more Gilligan's Island.
