Z06 auto trans at Detroit Auto Show?

Since the ZR1 info was released in December, I wonder if GM still has a surprise for us at the Detroit Auto Show. Perhaps a Z06 with an auto tranny and paddle shift for 2009...?

The news at Detroit will be the ZR1, the Green E85 Z06 pace car, and the Black/Silver Pace car.

At the Chicago show February 8th look for the Crystal Red Special Edition 2008 Z06.

At the Bash April 26th look for the 2009 coupe, vert, and Z06.

Yup, we won't know for sure about the Z06 auto tranny until April. However, I hope we start hearing some solid rumors from those in the know before then.

I hope to be able to write that check for a 09 Z06, Cyber Gray Metallic with an automatic transmission soon.

Automatic trans for a ZO6? I don't think so. Get a regular vette if you want an auto.

I have a "regular" vette and there is a automatic Z06. Just waiting and hoping that GM will release it.

Never met a regular Corvette

A high performance platform auto Vette will sell well. Much like the overwhelming majority of other Corvettes that come with auto trans.

Not everyone wants to, can or is able to drive a manual. No reason to hold them back from chasing their own Vette dream. Bring it on GM, it'll be warmly welcomed by the masses!

Watch the real crying flare up when the first Z06 w/paddles sets a lower 0-60time than a 6 speed, and the autocross, forget about it.

That would be all it would take for me to want one. How does the paddle shift 0-60 time compare with the 6 speed 0-60 in the LS3?
I drove several performance cars that had autos this past summer, including the 911 TT tiptronic, Lambo Gallardo, Maserati and the Ferrari F430. Overall I was disappointed, but the F430 is amazing. I am not exaggerating when I say "INSTANT" shifts. I know that is impossible, but that is what it feels like. If the Z06 could get in the ballpark of the shift speeds of the F430 (none of the other cars listed were), I would take 2 (one to keep stock and one to go crazy with).

@500hp would be easier to launch with the auto, and given what they've done with the auto shift points in the LS3, I'd say for the Z they would have to be pretty much the same if not better. I'll lean towards better/crisper shifts!

Since I just bought an 08 M6 Z51 I hope GM doesn't come out with a dual clutch sequential shifter and uses the torque convertor six speed automatic.. because then I won't feel as bad... (and have to sell this vette I just bought and buy a new one)

I've heard they have had the automatic (Torqueconvertor) z06 for quite some time and its really marketing thats holding it back..

Rumor is it outperforms the manual everywhere including the track...(road course)

I'm hearing the A6 Z06 for 09 is a done deal. This guy has personal contacts at the plant and has been right on several things in the past way before it was on any forums.

I believe that no one can out shift an auto trans at the drags or on a road course but, there is just something right about the Z with a 6 speed manual trans. I quess I,m just old school.
