Cool Phantom: Raptor (Body Kit Design)

Phantom: Raptor
The Raptor is a body kit design for the Corvette C6. The Raptor employs a combination of modern fighter-jet style with a unique aggressive and exotic twist. How low do you fly?

The Raptor is one of the first 6 body kits that I am designing. The version shown is a non-wide body version, and currently shows a mostly-complete front bumper, rear bumper, and sideskirt design. Soon I will add a hood and spoiler to match & enhance the overall effect.

This kit will not appeal to all corvette owners, which is why I plan 6 different designs. If this isn’t your style, I wouldn’t worry too much (you can leave your input anyway). If this is your style, PLEASE leave some input. Even small comments like “I love it”, “I don’t like it”, “that is better” or “that is worse” can help me a lot.

Can you show the body kits with some color (red?) and reflection? I know this view shows detail... but reflections would help understand the overall look.

I was going to transfer the cars from Rhino over to 3DS Max sometime tonight which would allow me to render them. To be honest, I need to see Raptor with some reflections & stuff. I need to do some touchup work to get the Raptor ready, but my goal is late tonight.

Gryphon, very innovative but not for me. Too much of a departure from the original lines of a Corvette has always cheapened the look IMO. You do awesome work, I'm anxious to see the other designs.

I'm starting to think the same. This didn't quite turn out as planned. I am not convinced that it will hold up to the quality standards for the "6 elite designs"(well, 7 since the Eagle split), but I want to see this one rendered (glossy picture) first, before I make any final decisions.

Overall, I don't think it is necessarily a bad looking design and some people would buy it if it were produced.

You do some GREAT work!

But in my opinion, the side skirts are a bit much and the front grill looks like another car (Can't think of which one though). And, just curious, could you make a side shot with bigger wheels so the wheels fill up more...I'm curious to how it'd look.

Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see the other styles!

Thumbs down!

Just keep the black borders on the headlights. Really enjoying your work. Maybe it is the fighter plane look. Both vettes and fighters have a place in my heart.

Okay, I'll put my 2 cents in. I like the front end of pic one, but I think I'd put lights in the center of the grill instead of the big hole. I like the moldings you did on the sides, but not so big. Shorten them up a little. I really like that first back end shot, but not crazy about all the black fin like things underneath. I'd like to see the roofline more like a Z rather than a hatchback style. and maybe somekind of spoiler. Got all that? Otherwise, I love it. Great work. keep it comin.

You can't buy a Vette with hopes and dreams

Very cool! I really like it. My only complaint is that the rear bumper looks like a tack-on. It looks good the way it sticks out, but it's too boxy. It would look better if it were more rounded and worked with the design of the orginal car better. Plus the black diffusers on the rear look a little out of place.

A few creative suggestions:

About the back-up lights, could you find a way to make them fit into the rear louvers on the bumper? That would look so cool.

Could you make the exhaust pipes encased in the rear bumper, kind of like on a Ferrari 360? That would be totally bad-ass. Of course you should leave some room for aftermarket pipes though, just in case.

Those last 2 responses were AWESOME!!! Thanks!!! These are awesome responses because…
  • They point out what does work.
  • They point out what doesn’t work
  • They give suggestions
I’ll try to hit on every point in your responses. Your words are in italics, and my responses are in bold.

I like the front end of pic one, but I think I'd put lights in the center of the grill instead of the big hole.
+ Not 100% sure what you are saying. Are you asking me to put the fog lights in the center like this picture? ->

I like the moldings you did on the sides, but not so big. Shorten them up a little.
Seems to be what people want. I’ll do it.

I really like that first back end shot, but not crazy about all the black fin like things underneath.
It’s a diffuser: Basically an underside wing. I think I have some ideas here that should alleviate this problem, but do what I want to do.

I'd like to see the roofline more like a Z rather than a hatchback style.
Not sure what you are saying. Replace the rear glass & roof?

and maybe somekind of spoiler.
Definitely, I have something fairly creative in mind. Don’t forget the hood also

Got all that? Otherwise, I love it. Great work. keep it comin.
I think I got most of it, and thanks for the compliments, feedback, and suggestions!!!!!!

True. I was thinking similarly. I’ll rework the rear bumper. Thanks!

I’ll see what I can do.

That was my original plan…then I built plan B ….back to plan A.

I’ll be redoing it that way. There will be enough room for your pipes. How big you want them?

Thanks for the suggestions!!!!!!

Time for me to get back to work on making your vette kits

If it ain't a C-4 it's a parts car.

Technically, something that is "behind your back" is really right in front of you.
