Longtimer VERY cool article KCRick.

I had reworked my MAF myself, added a higher volume CAI, and swapped the cat to a larger high volume. My Z52 came with VERY low restrictive mufflers. In Ca the car must pass a visual inspection, so any header used must be CARB approved. I'd always been told that no aftermarket cam would pass the emissions test but if my C4 was still with me, I'd sure find out.

Hope someone here applies these mods and reports back to let us know their results!

In fact, that same management team almost succeeded in getting the cancellation of Corvette. Times were tough. Toyota cancelled the Supra, Nissan cancelled their 380Zx, Mitsubishi an Chrysler canclled their 3000GT. Many other sports cars were cancelled. Porsche even killed the 924/944/968 and the 928 - although the Boxster was introduced shortly thereafter.

Thanks to the support of another GM management group of hard core vetters the BOD went the other direction and allated funds to resume the development of the C5 - but almost no $ for the interim C4s.

With the exception of the final year GS & LT4 engine option, GM didn't provide much money for development or improvement for the last 3-4 years of the C4. Regardless, even in the depressed market at the time, the public continued to buy more than 20k C4s each year.
ahh wow C4 just moved up another notch in my books.

I will say this though for being one of the least "favorites" of some of the Vette crowd the C4 sure does have a LARGER following for being so UNLIKED there are more guys Modding and building a C4 right now then any other Vette ever produced

And thankfully most of them are DRIVEN unlike alot of GARAGE QUEENS out there

But then again I am one of those guys that make the Garage Queen owning puriest cringe when I pull out of a car show in my 63 split and LIGHT the tires up, what fun is their in owning own if you drive it like gramma and cringe if a cloud is in the sky, makes you wonder why anyone would want to own a car if you couldnt fully enjoy it

Drive it like its RENTED

GARAGE QUEENS, i love it! i've been driving like I rented it for years, MY car performs!

dsheff01 I absolutely LOVE my C4....there's something to be said of the look and feel of this car! I seem to enjoy it more each time I drive down the street or highway with the top down. There is just something about a Vette, period!

Very nice of you to say that! I found the Z a few months ago, and it was so stunning I could not pass it up.

I just finished a frame off on the 82 and I have had the C5 for about 5 years.

There's a lot of Corvette history that most today don't really care about. You are not alone. I've always felt that you need to know where you've been in order to know which way to go in the future.

Be glad you can modify in Tx. There are lots of ways to wring HP out of L-98s ... but not in Ca. All Ca cars must pass emission tests that allow NO engine modifications.

Longtimer WOW! Those are three beautiful / powerful engines. VERY nice collection.

Are you done, or is there a master "1 per Generation" plan?
