Maniacmechanic1 The Shifter cable probably failed despite low miles.
It's from New York the Corvette.
Like the Midwest it gets super cold in the winter and often warms up 40-80 F more sudden overnight.
Thaws .
That's when condensation damage occurs.
If it's not air tight moisture gets sucked in.
Instant Rust forms.
Parts and entire car is drowned in water vapor droplets.
It's too cold to evaporate off fast.
The shift cable rusted inside out jammed up or snapped.

Won't be a problem in Arizona.

Worst thing you can do is put a car in an air tight garage.
Condensation can never dry off.
Better off having some ventilation and let it dust covered.
Use a good car cover.

How Musclecars survived 40-60 years in storage full of dirt dust.
Ventilation adequate and condensation allowed to drie off rapid.

The Torch Thanks for looking that up Kenny. I hope that might get Jim & Judy pointed in the right direction

KennyGS I found these posts from the same thread.

This appeared to get one of the members back on the road:

Won't go into park or reverse

Our 2007 won't go into park and won't go into reverse. We got out of the car by putting the top down and climbing through the window openings. We are in AZ, it's very hot, there are no leaks that we can see, little over 16,000 miles (purchased in NY in 2009, shipped to AZ when we moved here from NY in 2005). All service up to date. Frustrating! Dealership closed until Monday, car is in garage. Have looked through manuals and find nothing specific. Any thoughts? I am NOT mechanically inclined, and my husband has some limited knowledge.

(First time on this forum, and I'm enjoying reading.)
