Junkman2008 I agree! There are problems across the board, but there are those here who act like none of these problem started until 2008. The funny thing is when I drive through left leaning states and listen to the left leaning radio stations, they claim that everything is as rosy as it has ever been and no problems exist at all. What that taught me is that you cannot look at ONE TV show or national news outlet and get the true scoop. The truth lies somewhere in the vast middle, which is why I want to be a moderate.

Both sides spit enough garbage to fill up the Atlantic Ocean.

Unfortunately, it was the antics of this administration that caught my attention in regards to politics. My disdain is not only for the president, but also most of the 535 with the exception of a handful.
When almost all of congress who enters and leaves a multimillionaire even though they only make 200k$ a year, you know there are problems with the system.

However, the economy has taken a serious upturn and I haven't seen one thread about that. As a matter of fact, I don't think any of you hardcore pubs will as much as acknowledge that things a much better than they were in 2008, economy wise.

You willing to admit that?

Junkman2008 That exactly what I joked about earlier! So I wasn't far off at all!

It's like suing the police for a speeding ticket when you were speeding. Why would a judge even waste time presiding over a case like that? You can't speed by law so there is no case.
It's just having the "sue me" mentality and knowing it will take a long time to work it's way through the courts. The INS people have no alternative but to obey his orders -- they work for him. It's up to injured parties (usually states) to try to stop it. What he hopes is that the courts will allow his order to stand while it is being litigated. What the states want is a stay order during that time. This Texas judge granted a stay, which the Justice Dept (who works for the President) is appealing to an appeals court hoping to get the stay reversed. If they can, Obama knows that he can essentially bestow legal residency to millions of people and get them benefits before it works it way to the Supreme Court. It's a game, and our democracy is not supposed to be gamed that way. Yes, lots of Presidents pass executive orders. But is usually to iron out problems with laws to give Congress time to change the law. In other words, it's usually in concert with Congress. This is just bad precedent and really does smack of monarchy.

In YOUR mind anyway. So when are you leaving for Canada? Or are you going to stay here under all this oppression that you claim exist?

And worse than that, his order bestows monetary benefits on the people who are allowed to stay here. That has nothing to do with discretion. It is making new law. The President simply cannot bestow benefits on individuals because he has no spending power, and he doesn't have the power to force states to spend money as he has done here. Only congress can do that. The Dems are acting like this S. Texas judge is acting in a partisan way and that he will likely be overruled. But his decision said that the President can indeed use discretion in who is deported, but he can't bestow benefits. Many constitutional lawyers think his decision will stand up under appeal. But it's frightening, to say the least, that our President is acting like a ruler when he decided that if Congress won't pass laws, he will just do it for them. This is going to be interesting to watch as it goes through the court system.
