Been there... tried that... similar result. I was able to get the clip to stay on my melting the the peg slightly with a soldering iron, but then the metal raised fingers broke off!

When I installed my new VE covers and foam, what I did was actually cut the seat foam back slightly in that area (beyond the stock contour) which helped take the pressure off that pin when cushion is flattened by my lofty buns. Seems to have worked perfectly. Looks factory and has stayed tight so far (for the past year). You do have to be VERY CAREFUL if attempting this as once the foam is trimmed, it is gone.

Well, since I reinforced the seat bottom with that carpet, reinforced the seat frame with that tubing and put down new form, I don't expect that to be an issue again as long as I'm alive. I lost 60 pounds so I won't be wearing anything out soon.

Yeah, I just dropped about 55-lbs so far too... have to protect the VE investment!

AJ,

You just continue to amaze me. You a smart man and that's a fact.

I like the new avatar, yep, but I like your seat warmer better. She's prolly WAY too nice for you.

RJent hooked me up with that!

As for the seat warmers, you all have a nice selection up there too! I need to get up there for a visit so that I can partake of some before I croak.

DIY Leather on the c5 sport seats

HI AJ:
What a really in depth pictorial for changing the leather. Great shots & info.I don't know if I will be doing this at this time, but I would not be afraid of doing this.Your interior looks just as good as vette essentials.I was wondering how many hours from start to finish? What did this cost you & who is the vender? You got all new foam for $64. Is that amount for each seat? Who supplied the foam. The center console looks great too.
Thanks again for another job well done!

Well Rob, you'll find out if you ever do any car work with me that the time it takes me to do anything is way above the norm. I usually remove a screw, take a bunch of pictures, stand back and look at the screw, go post on Digital and answer my many PM's, surf for a while, go back into the garage and look at the screw some more, figure out that I can go faster if I go buy some more tools, go shopping for tools and buy stuff I wasn't planning on buying, flirt with some ladies, come back home and answer some more PM's, go look at the screw again and THEN remove the second screw.

Then I drink a wine cooler which makes me dizzy so I go take a nap.

It took me at least a week and a half to do both seats. Some of that was waiting for the foam to come in. Now that I've done it, I could probably do 1 seat in 2 hours.

The seats and armrest cost me $600. I'll PM you the source. The foam that I got for $64 was the driver's side bottom cushion. I got that from Superior Chevy, one of our supporting vendors. They have always given me great pricing on everything and that's why I order from them instead of supporting my local dealerships. If you call them, ask for Chris May and let him know that I sent you and that you are a forum member.
