Bottom Line (and most important):
While not right away, there will eventually be a red one in my garage

Kudos to Team Corvette!
I completely agree with everything you said.

Design Engineers are STILL preoccupied with avoiding a C5 smooth rear Big butt. Aero numbers require the width, so designers break it up with angles and clutter (in yours and my opinion).

That said, the C8 rear IMO manages to do this while avoiding the offensive crap that was all over the C7 rear. I know some of us 'got used to' the C7 rear. How many here had to 'get used to' any of the design of your favorite Corvette gen? I finally 'got used to' the C5. Loved the C6 rear at first sight, and will never 'get used to' the C7 rear.

I see the C8 rear as nice looking solution to not only the aero design challenge, but also the Mid engine heat exhaust challenge. Better but still too a bit much black paint. But that is easily solved .or 'gotten used to.'

The HVAC buttons MIGHT be duplicated by the new "roller mouse" but as weird as they look, I'd rather train my muscle memory where the up/down fan button is than take my eyes off the road to watch which box I'm selecting with the roller mouse.

Jay Leno's private C8 review - link

Jay Leno was given an advance private showing of the Blue Z51 AND he got to drive for a VERY short distance. Here's the link to his private showing that will air on his Season Premier of Jay Leno's Garage on August 28. Click the LINK above the Pic, not the white arrow.

BTW, keep in mind that the only light they have in there when this is being filmed is yellowed from VERY old sky lights at the peak of the roof of the hanger so the Blue color does not look appealing here.

From a hard core Porsche guy

I seriously hope GMs mindset was FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. That may be why they had so much astronaut stuff leading up to the reveal. Hope their track testing pushed it full race hard until parts failed. Re design and repeat.
They have the weight down and the HP/TQ are enough for some seriously good track fun. DCT is serious good stuff too. It just needs to hold up on the track.
It has been some years since I test drove a Grand Sport. Biggest thing that turned me off was the balloon full of Elmers Glue between my foot and the gas pedal. My NA Pcars have such razor sharp throttle response and it almost felt like turbo lag. I was told that could be tuned out?
New Porsche GT4 will go head to head against it (talking about buyers on a budget) and the C8 has a serious $,HP,TQ, and DCT advantage. I had several 2016 GT4s and they were seriously quick in the twisties because of mid engine. 570S McLaren that I tracked last year would pull like a freight train but numb in the turns. Tracking a 2019 GT3 RS this year and love it.
But I am keeping a spot open in my garage for a C8.
Cuz I am a car guy first. And if I get one it will see track and autocross duty.

OK, I like it a lot. Beautiful lines and very functional styling. Under 60 grand is a big bonus. Makes me wonder what the high-performance variants will offer for 100K. DOHC, single plane, 800 horsepower fun mobile. You've got to believe that there's a Ford GT beater somewhere in the lineup for about half price. Now, if I can just hit that lottery. I went to the ordering website and did a dark blue Vette with the red interior.

The V6 Ford GT does 0-60 in 3 seconds, so if you watched the reveal, you know the C8 Stingray Z51 is faster 0-60 than the Ford GT. Will it top out any other Ford GT performance specs? We don't know yet, but I cannot wait to see the first comparo test of the ~$60-65k Z51 (price of Z51 pkg?)and the $400k+ Ford GT. The blue oval will turn red with embarrassment.

It is going to get interesting for sure. 0-60 is one thing but top speed is another ballgame altogether. The Ford has about an extra 150 horsepower which will help push the wind around pretty good. Aerodynamic drag is going to be a big deal and the Vette does appear to be a cleaner design. I think the Ford is prettier and more badass at the same time but at over 4 times the cost it should be.

Even if the Vette price does rise to 100K for 750+ HP version it will still be a massive bargain compared to the Ford or any other hyper-car on the road.. Chevy appears to have hit the nail on the head with the new design. We need to start a Go-Fund-Me page so I can afford one. Donations?? If I can raise enough money for two of them I'll even share.

HERE IT I - Pics & Vid Links to Reveal Coupe & Vert! (keep checking 1st Post)

0 to 60 is fine. But I care more about what happens when you turn the wheel. 750 hp will not do squat if you park it in the corners.

The first post includes a link to "Corvette Academy" - essentially C8 details from all of the engineers and even Marketing. I like this vid in particular because of the look on Tadge's face when he recalls the FIRST drive of the first prototype. Open the link below and go to the 3:28 to see what I mean. Tadge turned into a Valley Girl over the handling. To me, it speaks volumes - FWIW

I'm not getting any feedback on the 'Update it all in the first post idea." However, I'm going to guess the glass is half full based on the number of hits the thread has had. If any of you have ideas about how to better present all of the information, pics and vids, please let me know. Every day I find more interesting (to me anyway) bits to include/update and the hits seem to indicate that new stuff is easier to find in a single post than new daily threads...or am I misinterpreting?

Will do, but the downside of updating only Post number 1 is that editing the post and updating doesn't move the thread to the top. I'll keep posting and deleting 'TTT posts. About 1200 hits so people ARE checking the thread.
