Cosmo, your article brings to mind a card I keep next to my police dept. group photo. I'm sure you've heard it before, but IMHO, it's worth repeating:

Success

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Bessie Stanley (inaccurately attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson). Ref.

You, Matthew and Michael, continue to inspire us and touch our lives for the better.

Thank you so much!

Cosmo,
Let me also add that while you will never forget your child, over time the pain will ease and all the great memories will shine through!

matt is gone from us for ever taken like [buy a thief in the night ] ibelieve i read that some place in the scriptures that is how god would take us .

i prayed to see him in a dream that would realy be nice
but god has him now its, gods business now .

the news papers here sence matts passing have been front page huge stories of this entire area [like big news like the war ] every night salem news outlining the extreemly large opiate ,heroine , oxycontin , problem [catastrofic in size with all the young adults in this once thought of as safe working middle class to upper class if i may use the term class ' [from here now they all agree no child is safe from it people coming foward like the super inteddent of schools his son ,tonight a beautiful youg girl from a fire fighter had recently over dosed [ they had like 90 over dose cases in like a short year . this news broke with in a few days of matt passing .

theres a message here [and i hope nobody else has to go through what peg and i and his sisters ,nephews , friends are going throuh

ok im getting stronger /peg appears to also

family

I'm happy to hear that you and Peg are starting to recover from this tragedy. A strong family is sure a big help in such circumstances. Keeping them in my prayers.
