I looked at & drove 2 C4 vettes today...One was a 94 C4. RED W/RED interior, 56555 in miles automatic with FX3 option. One owner since new( per carfax ) No accidents. The dealer wanted $13,995 body & interior looked good. Drivers seat has some wear. Body had a few paint chips on it( didnt like that) I took him the Kelly blue book which said $9265.00 with the miles and excellent condition. $9500.00 was my offer, he said No to that of course. I then showed him the KBB offer sheet. Ill keep on him until he wants to sell it. I'll offer him 10G and see where it goes.

staring to like the 1st gen C4-1987

Starting to dig these 1987 C4 coupes & Verts. I've seen a few that i like for under 7grand. If i go that route, i'll have plenty of cash left over for upgrades which will include that X-brace, Camber strut tower brace, off road exhaust & an new set of tires( wider) and keep the factory 87 rims.

Just skip anything with the 4+3 transmission. It's neat and all but you'll have to replace the overdrive eventually and it require service every 10k miles. Better off with the factory 6 speeds in the later years (89 I believe) or the automatics.

I'm gonna get an automatic. I was told to get an 87 due to the 700R4 issues of the 88-91's

The 87's received a revised input drum - turbine input shaft assembly along with Revised 3-4 clutch steels & frictions.
Larger with more surface friction area in square inches.
Higher load carrying capacity.
A revised input sprag assembly.
Had all aluminum clutch apply pistons.
The front oil pump was all new and greatly improved.
Steady line pressure rise & TCC valve failures were non existent.
An auxilary valve body was added for silky smooth garage shifts from Park to drive to reverse.
All aluminum 1-2 , 3-4, & axillary valvebody accumaltor pistons used. Not plastic like later 4L60E's in many applications that failed prematurely cracked apart.
Much more...

I worked on the South side of Chicago next to the Ford plant you work at now Big D.
Drove my Red 87 C4 roadster daily.
All black around Blue Island as you know too.
Never once got shot at or held up at gun point.

One day a Donk Cadillac pulled up next to me.
Brothers wall to wall inside.
They rolled their windows down.
Instead of shooting at me...
They yelled out one of them....HEY MICHAEL JORDAN HAD A CORVETTE JUST LIKE YOURS MAN !!!

REALLY ???

WHAT YEAR IS YOUR VETTE ?

1987..

HIS WAS A 87 TOO.

THE TOP WAS DOWN AND I SMILED AND WAVED HIGH.
LIGHT TURN GREEN & STOMPED ON THE GAS AND BURNT RUBBER ACROSS THE INTERSECTION FOR THE BROTHERS.

NONE EVER GAVE ME A BIT OF TROUBLE.

Tuesday is that day!!!

I'll be heading down state 1.5 hrs away to view, drive and hopefully trailer this triple black 1987 vette home. In the pictures and emails the seller sent me, i should be bringing the car home. I really hope that this car drives as good as it looks.

They Drive Awesome the 1987 C4's with Z52 Big D like I told You on the Phone.
Then its an entire different car when you drop the Top down.

Refined but Racey Feel just like your 5.0 8-Second Race Car Has.

The car had 1990 wheels on it, but the owner gave me a set of clean 87 wheels( no tires) so im on my way to discount tire today to get some BFG's. I also ordered some goodies from Corvette central this morning as well.

Keep both sets of wheels. Then you have a racing pair and a street pair.

Personally, I put C4ZR1 wheels on mine and it does wonders to give the car a far more current look.

Very nice. You're gonna love it. And it's good to see that your wheels are all facing the right way. Enjoy!
