We have a C5 Transmission to build together in your garage coming up soon Junk ?
Be a Fun thread.

Build it RACE mode if you like.
Upshift to 3rd gear & your Vette is Sideways.

When it happened, I was kind of in a state of shock and I didn't want it to sink in so I started tearing it down and ordering parts right away. By the time what happened sank in, I was halfway through the repair. I was a loooong way from home on a dark stretch of freeway when that happened. Talk about bummed out.

I am by no means an expert Brian but I'm good enough to just work on my own car. I wouldn't do someone else's car because the job would never be to my satisfaction where I would feel right charging anyone. Now had I'd been smart enough to learn from my father, I could have been a Chip Foose. At the same time, I would probably not have any lungs left because that lacquer paint is pretty much what did my father in. Now he could paint a car like nobody's business!

I haven't checked it yet. The El Camino was eating $150 starters like they were M&M's and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out the wire from the ignition was shorting to ground. I temporarily fixed it so that I could get back and forth to my appointments but I need to get that fixed first so that I can finish the Vette. But yes, that could be an epic thread too!

WOW!!! Your car looks great!!! I'm sure that you get a great deal of satisfaction from such an endeavor!! I wrecked my 2009 Z06, not quite as bad but pretty damn bad!! I do understand how you felt when the accident happened, I loved that Z, and I was really bummed out for months over it. I wish I had your skills man, I sold my Z, because in my experiences that kind of work is never done well by a lot a of body shops.

Your Dad taught you well Junk.
He would be Proud Still.

Mini starters don't last forever.
Pretty much a wear & tear item.
TILTON Mini Starter the original & still best.
Made in the USA.
Best Blueprint specs & very closely machined parts .
Built to be the best & is.
Costs the most too.
Mini starter a must have with Big tube headers.
Clearance room required.

TA On my mind of course.
Goodie parts coming.
Fun tracking online. ...like a kid in a candy store.
Even better original used parts some.
Getten lucky.

Well, you did some fine work and you saved a lot of money.

That will come in handy keeping that color clean.

The whole part of the job that I didn't feel was going to be done right if I took it somewhere was the alignment of that inner fender. When you have to replace the inner fenders on these cars, being a tad bit off will throw the rest of the doghouse off. I must have spent 17 hours getting that ONE inner fender perfect before I glued it in place. I knew there was no shop willing to be that anal about it. If I remember correctly, I must have spent close to $3500 in parts and supplies so I saved a ton on labor.

Yea, but I need one to last longer than 2 months!

Dad never got to see me tear into anything like this. I wish he could have been around to see the finished product.
