The Pontiac Engineers in 1957 Had Drag Racing in mind ....And the Gasser & Nitro Runners used them all.

Believe it or not....The majority of those 5.0 Mustangs that almost all Vette owners hate but me & one other on this forum............Stock 8.8 " rear built carefully for drag race,
Race shocks added, these adjustable upper control arms.......Good enough for 8- second 1/4 mile times.
1.1-1.3 60 foot times.
Thats how bad the stock Corvette IRS is/ OR Modded up.
Smearing more crap onto crap thats all......

We are going to get back on track Later Junk when I am Free.

The Unitezd Frame Vettes from 1984-2014 do have an edge.
Super Strong Main Ladder Frame Rails. Engineered to take a sideways collision Blow at 100-140, save the driver & passenger.
Most pronounced in the C4 Vettes. Drop down into a bathtub & sit.
Like an Indy IRL Racecar.

The problem that has been present for over 10 years of Corvette owners not converting over to a Solid Axle setup is the perception......."my Vette wont handle nice no more.
The handling all comes from the special IRS rear alone"..........Bullshit.

Driven like its stolen because it was.
Bone stock 455 1973 Trans Am.
Solid rear axle.
2nd gen TA's are the best handling cars till the C4 Vette came out in 1984.
