Unhappy Steering 'clicks' when engine is off (see picture)

Hope you guys can help me out here.

1984 model.
When the engine is off and i turn the steering wheel, i hear loud clicks.
i found out that the upper part of the rod turns a bit, then the pin hits the side of the hole (now the clicking stops)
I turn the wheel the other way.. first clicks until the pin hits the other side of the hole..

is this normal or does something needs replacement??
looks like i have no problems when the engine is on (power steering on)

sorry for my bad english, i hope you guys understand what i mean..

It should not move that much. I would find a good replacement if even for piece of mind.

two things I never let get to far out is breakes and stering.

This is one where you need to look at the service manual to see what it says. This vehicle been in a crash before?
