Wheels of America = bad service

Just passing the word on how bad they're screwing my friend around.

He pretty much wanted to send his Z06 wheels in to have them Powdercoated black and Polished lips so he can roll on some cool wheels, but it ended up being a disaster.

Here's the link.

Quote:
As some of you may know, I recently had my Z06 wheels sent in to Wheels America (Houston) to have black powdercoat applied with a polished lip. I was told by their representative that I would have the wheels back within 4 days. The wheels arrived there on the 2nd of January and were dropped back off to my mechanic on the 6th in POOR condition. There was patches of bare metal showing through the powdercoat, as well as heavy overspray patterns all over the wheel. My mechanic, being a DuPont representative and Engineer immediately demanded the wheels be sent back and redone. The next day I called up to Wheels America and they admitted to the poor workmanship done on my wheels and said that I would have the wheels back within the week, this was the 7th. It is now the 19th and after repeated phone calls to Wheels America all they have to say is that my wheels are currently being worked on and that they were having trouble with them and that it would be not until the end of the week (around the 23rd). What was supposed to have been a 4-5 day job has now resulted in me being out of my car for nearly a month. Infact, due to this, I have decided to take back custody of the wheels (at no cost) and send them to a seperate wheel company in Conroe at my expense to have my wheels fixed which will take them at least another week and a half to do right. I am now not only out of a brand new car, but worried about possible structural damage and or weakening by the continued machining/baking they have put my wheels through the past weeks. I spoke with the owner and asked that he keep the current wheels and supply me with a set of new, factory Z06 wheels in return for my loss of use, and possible damage they have done to my wheels. My claim was immediately denied by the owner and now my wheels are just being dropped off at my mechanics shop. I am at a loss here, I have no idea what to do, but the first thing I could think of was to hopefully save some others from making the same horrible decision I made when I sent my wheels to Wheels America (Houston) also... When I asked for his mailing address, the owner asked "why, you gonna sue me?" then said "hell, if your going to sue me, im just going to keep the wheels"
Here's the actual link to it.

That sucks.

But, for the record, the baking of powder coat is not at a temperature that can do anything to the wheels. He shouldn't sweat it.

Lordy, lordy what do they think that they are a major corporation and can continue to get away with it. Take 'em to small claims court and ask for punitive also because of the way they treated him. Keep accurate records or dates, times, and people so you can prove the case. If you can, get another set of wheels and have the others tested for structural damage. You won't need a lawyer for small claims unless you want one. The other question is "Are they the wheels that were sent or did someone relieve the shop of yours and they substituted someone elses bouched job?" This is not unheard of.

That does suck but one question:
If you sent him the wheels shouldn't you have the address already?

If he was going to be served then the legal mailing address should be the place of notification. If it is sent to his business address someone besides the owner may get it and the owner can deny receipt.

Question

If you powdercoat something. can you either change colors or redo it? How can you remove powdercoat?
