The c4 is ALWAYS looked down on

im sure there has been many forums posted on this topic, but WHY is the c4 always looked down upon by the c3 or c5, c6, etc ppl?
considering the c4 changed the whole image of corvette...this new motor, introduced in 84 and redefined in 85. the c4 was known for the superior handling which is still used(to a certain extent) in the c5 and so on.

when ppl ask me what vette i have i reply with a 95 and they say..oh, i didnt like those years...they are "ugly". to some people, we may be on the bottom of the foodchain of corvettes but the c4 lasted the longest, was known to be superior of its time but yet still looked down upon.

if you are a HUGE corvette enthusiast(like myself) and have a limited amount of money(again like myself) the c4 is perfect. you get a great amount of power, GREATTT deal(they are so under priced, which is fine with me ) and for god sakes...they ARE a corvette! this thread kind of goes with the one some dude posted about a snobbish corvette community which i completely agree with him on. My point is, there are no reasons for the c4 to be looked down upon and almost to be chastised for owning one, if u think that the c4 is among the shit years...you cant be a true corvette owner.

sorry for it being kind of long

I understand what your saying man. I have had a few people look down on me considering its a C4. They say they like the newer ones or older models better. They still appreciate the fact that its a Corvette.

But to be honest I started out not really liking how the C4 looked. I always wanted a C5 but my car has grown on me a lot and i love the way the seats feel. It truly feels like a cockpit....

My car really doesnt command a lot of respect sometimes. They think of it as a harmless decent corvette especially when I go to my local track to drag race. But I dont know what to say. I mean I really love my C4 and I am really loving the fact that I am learning a lot about my car. I can't imagine having to start over and learn about C5s or C6s.

But I know what you mean. That's one of the reasons I have started modifying my car to be a lot faster and to look a lot meaner. I would like to prove people out there that my car can hang.....

My Corvette(s)
69 Vette

My first Corvette was a 1988 Coupe! I am now on my third, a C6. In between was a 2000 C5! While I love my C6 as much as my C5, I can honestly tell you my C4 was my favorite! It started it all for me and if I could have it back, I would do it in a minute! Sometimes I wonder where it is, I don't think it's in town anymore. It was Pearl White with chrome rims and perfect!

I really don't hear people refer to it as "not worthy" or anything like that because it most certainly is. It was for it's day the CUTTING EDGE and it is still beautiful beyond compare! IMO, I think (as far as the outside) it's not that far off from the new ones at all!

I really wish I could buy back "MY" 1988 Vette, that would make my day!

I think the Late C4's are the best looking corvettes. I LOVE mine. And I love all the generations of vettes. I think the C4's have classic styling that will stand the test of time well. DB

I say NO WAY. From 1991 thru 1996, best interiors, best color combinations, fantastic engine and trans. combos, L98/LT1/LT4/LT5, ZF6/700R4, tough to beat in the auto X, great 60' times without the wheel hop suffered in just about every other platform before AND after. IMO, my C6 interior does not compare to my 1992 Black Dual Power Sport seats interior, and what really finished it off was the awesome Dark Red Metallic exterior paint, friggin' chick magnet all the way. When you sit your ass down in there, you are Joe Fucking Cool, period.

If I actually cared what people thought of my C4, I never would have bought a Turquoise Metallic one in the first place.

This is my dream car. I found it, bought it and will keep it until the day I die.

1985,1992,1996 CORVETTES......
that should give you some hint as to the one body style I find the best looking
each vintage has thier good features, but like most guys Im not drowning in spare cash so I love the fact that a decent C-4 can be purchased for reasonable cash outlay, they are easy to work on , I don,t like the c5 design but the c6 looks better so if I upgrade that may be the route

I don't know in what circles you travel, but in all of the years I have attended car shows, I don't recall anyone ever putting down C4's. I think that every generation has its own unique styling changes. The bottom line is there ALL good!

Just the opion of a "corvette guy" here - Ive had two C5's and I'm in a C6 now , plus my dad had a 71 C3 for a while.

This is not one of those situations where you think people are talking about you but they're really not - they are !!

I think we can all agree that the C4 was the MOST non-descript model Vette ever made . It has the classic sports car wedge shape that many people equate with lesser car's (ie camaro) - So , to a non-vette lover it can be a bit underwhelming . I love all Vette models myself but I'm not ashamed to admit that I love the C4 the least (but I still love it ) , and I have heard many people comment how they dont like the look of the C4........ but who cares !?!?!

If it makes anyone feel better I heard negative comments about all my "newer" Vettes too ..

ENJOY YOUR BADASS C4's !!!
