I personally don't think I can measure the difference by feel. Obviously the tint (whatever kind you get) considerably reduces the stress on the A/C and allows the car to cool and stay cool with much less effort. The tint reduces glare and additionally looks good. I did'nt get the heavy dark but I believe it's called carbon 35. I had the same tint on my Z06 and was extremely happy. I was talked into the ceramic because it was a technology developed by NASA and I liked the concept. Mike at XLNT said he does install ceramic on cars and trucks with flat or flatter windows than the Corvette but "carbon" is still the most popular because it's about 30% less expensive and does an excellent job.

He was very willing to try again with ceramic but said we probably would have the same result because of the chemical makeup of the product. There was no point in gambling on a second try because the performance difference seems to be negligible.

interesting.
i have some streaking in mine, but:
A.) They weren't as obvious.
B.) I didn't really care enough to have the redo it.
Probably 2 reasons off the bat why your car always looks better than mine!

Well:

You know I'm a waxer at heart now a days. When I was young I was much less detail oriented. I drove my corvettes as drivers everyday. Unless you have a staff waiting around to keep your vehicles in perfect shape, I don't think you can do both.

I'd rather be where you are in reality (?), but I guess Jay Leno has the right idea and situation.

They are a good company, I've used them in the past. Which shade is your tint?

Went to XLNT TINT on LaPalma in Anaheim today to find out what the smudges are on the windows. After close inspection by the boss (Mike) I was told it is the ceramic trying to get around the curved glass of the corvette windows. They said I'm the second or third Corvette customer to have a modeling effect that appears to be between the tint and the glass. Mike explained that "Ceramic" was not originally designed for cars because of the curves, however many cars and trucks have little bend in the glass so the ceramic tints work just fine. In the Corvette the ceramic has trouble bending (like trying to gift wrap a basketball).

XLNT Tint in Anaheim CA gave me the best solution possible after much conversation. They offered to redo the ceramic or replace it with "Carbon". Mike's professional opinion was to replace with carbon so I agreed.

This is what they did:

1) Removed all ceramic tint from the car.

2) Installed Carbon tint on the 3 windows.

3) Refunded to me $250 for the difference between the two.

4) Told me my warranty was still intact from my purchase.

5) Charged me nothing and apologized for the inconvenience.

I don't think it could have been handled any more professionally!

I would highly recommend this shop if you live in the S.Cal area.
Which shade of tint did you get?

35 carbon is on the car now that we removed the ceramic. They were very customer oriented and let me drive the car in and out of the stall. They even accommodated my demand to not let the car out of my sight.

I'll upload a pic soon. Just washed and waxed it tonight.

Front plate? You mean the one that already "got destroyed"??

That'd be cool!
Were they all personalized too? Do you remember each car that they went with? I plan to do the same thing with all of my front plates!

I heard they called the race due to rain, did you still go with all the terrible conditions in that part of the country?
