C8 Preproduction taking hot laps at the 'Ring

The Corvette team has been pushing C8s hard around the Ring, no doubt trying to establish an impressive time to share at the Debut. A link to the 12 minute vid is below. It's worth noting (to me anyway) that this C8 is still running that fugly (to me) wing on the rear and it sure looks like the cammo on the Frunk is flexible and might even be a stretchable, breathable fabric to enable exhausting radiator heat out vents of some kind. This would also help provide additional downforce which is needed in all midengined chassis.

The media consensus - across the board - is that this C8 is running an LT2 which is an updated OHV LT1 with somewhere in the vicinity of 500HP (some are saying 530HP). They all say that the sound is quite similar to the C7 lapping the Ring. I didn't see any guesses about times but the consensus is that the C8 was very aggressive on the course.

Glad we’re not the only ones that don’t like that rear wing!

Fortunately, there will be plenty of alternatives. We've already seen 3 other rear spoilers and wings on the C8s.

GM Authority is saying that they have a reliable source telling them that the LT2 will have minimal changes versus the LT1 and we should expect HP between 480 and 500.

Their source also confirmed that the only tranny will be by a new seven-speed automatic/dual-clutch transmission.
