That's a hard thing to say for someone who died on the other side of the information age. Did you know that the Graphics Processing Unit(GPU) was invented in 1999? The good CAD design software really needs powerful GPU's to drive the 3d virtual world in which they operate. If anybody from before were to come back to life today they would think we have super powers with our ability to immediately access any information we need or connect to anybody right there in our pocket. To order and pay for something in just a quick moment in the same fashion.
And the undeniable truth that you need to come up in our time to learn the right procedures of the day and to be fluent with the tools of the day to be able to be good in that day. Right? Mickey Thompson would not be able to cut it as a mechanic today.
Could you imagine? He would have to learn how to use a scantool. Do you understand how profound of a statement that is to make about a mechanic? He was one of the greatest, sure. But of all time, not by a long shot. Kid. Because times and tools change.
Or better, How about having a discussion with Mickey Thompson about a 5 axis VE table. He'd look back at you like you were stupid. Because there were no variable cams driven by a PWM circuit controlling oil pressure. There were no electronic lifters for displacement on demand in his time. And there was no 4 digit fuel pressure in his days. But we have it in every current corvette made. And every tech working on it has a general knowledge of it that can be fine honed on a whim by reaching in their pocket.
We are the greatest Mechanics of all time. The mechanics today that are good at working on today's cars. Because by reaching in our pocket we can work on anything from before. The best mechanic from before can only reach in their pocket for a bag of nuts.

You Really are nuts too Wiz.
Your gift is computers and EFI Tuning.
I read today there was a Computer in the Challanger 1.
In the Tail section.
For recording 10 mile top speed salt flat runs.
Might have been Vacuum Tube circuitry and Nixie tubes.
Hexadecimal counters were already invented.
From WW2 era Computers.
Also used R×C time constant circuits.
4 Transmissions and 4 clutches had to be shifted at once.
All 4 engines had to turn same Rpms under load.
4 Vertex magnetos.
4 Hilborn constant flow mechanical injections.
1960 4 GMC 6-71 superchargers.
Junkyard tubing from a WW2 Airplane junkyard.
Mickey drew chalklines on the concrete floor.
It was the Blueprint of Challanger.
All came from his brain.
No computer.
The Human mind.

An incredible feat. But he knows nothing of the all powerful resources we have today and with him having died before these resources were available it is impossible to know how he would take to them. Whether he would embrace it like me and be empowered or stick with his comfort zone and shut out the new processes and tools as so many have.
Also I bet he would have traded that car and all 4 motors and power adders for a single 10 speed automatic transmission. And if not that then most definitely for a 450LPH turbine fuel pump and some +60lb/hr injectors. Surely he would have preferred to be playing with blowers equipped with heat exchangers that were designed with powerful computers to reduce air friction and have all that boosted goodness without the heat.

Talked to her most of the day.
Chicago ate her up.

She recalls me taking them out also.

It's 4 wheel drive AWD.
Front engines ran the front wherls.
Rear engines powered the rear wheels.
Military axles. Overdrive units built into the front hubs.
Full Floating axles front and rear.
All the old dragsters were like that.
You sat on the Rear Diff over it.
Driveshaft inches away from Your Balls Cock.
Real Men.

Long story.
She lost most of her memory.
Remembers our time together.
We were kids.
No idea what to do Gunny.
Winging it.
What You & Me do best.
That & set to Kill mode 24/7/365.
Told one of those Pontiac Drag fags to Go Fuck himself tonight.
Tried to size me up.
His cock fell off.

They are looking for a manager in a diesel shop local Gunny.
Job has been open for a while.
I never worked as Manager.
But I did run an Auto shop because I was alone after B.J. Left to work in the Nuke power plants here.
Chad the owner was never around.
Did it alone for 2 years 2007-2009.
Have to write a Cover Letter today.
Still can do the Race Car fab Thing with Eddie.

It feels like I won some kind of lottery that every year the industry just takes another step further inside of my comfort zone.
All mechanics are on notice! Learn electrical. Get good at it. Make it your bitch. It is the only way you will stay relevant in this trade moving forward.
