Fedarick, you cant understand GM , noone does.

And they arent "names" , they are just option codes, and as discussed on this forum before there is very little if any reverence payed to these RPO codes, they just get recycled in ways that only GM understands.

If you want names for engines they should bring back "Turbo-fire" "TurboJet" or since all engines are now GM Powertrain and not divisional how about "Rocket" etc....Why 6L80e when "Powerglide" sounds better???

lol i know what you mean, chrsler and dodge sorta have the same design with the hemi. ford has gone all out and made a 99 percent rereation of their ford gt40, and it still cant beat the z6

every big 3 company has gone retro except gm... come on, wake up


look at the 300, it may look like a refridgerator, but it is different, and having something different makes you stand out.
no other car looks like that and when people look at it going down the road they cant mistake it with any other chrysler, it is different. and when they see it, they like it , and they buy it

thats why there are tens of thousands of 300's on the road today.



BTW: if any of you live in or near lake orion, which is near auburn hills and rochester, you should go to the orion assembley and look at the back lot, there are so many g6's and grand prix's sitting out there.

its a shame to see a company as good as GM go down so fast.

lutz and wagoner are talking about "restructuring" the company, well why dont they restructure themselves out of GM.... that is why GM is going down.
he is sending everything to china, and he is getting a crappy product back, bad qulity=NO SALES.

alot of people sit here and talk about GMs situation when in reality most dont even have 10% of the picture.

GM is growing at a rapid rate in Asia, China which will grow to become the worlds second largest auto market soon is where GM is doing its best in asia. GM is growing faster in China then anyother car maker is including Toyota. GM Europe sales and market share are once agian going up and many GM products in Europe have recieved numerous rewards. GM Aussie is pretty stable in battle with Toyota and they are getting newer product to better fight Toyota. GM Africa and middle east are also growing, there is only one market inwhich GM is suffering in and its the North American market. For the first time this year GM will sell more vehicles overseas then it does in the US.

Last year GM sold some 8.9 million units world wide and this year you wont believe it GM is going to sell 9.1 million units. This isnt the direction inwhich most people think that GM sales are going in based on many of the news articles. Everyone thinks that GM is losing sales globally and at a fast rate but thats not happening.

Whats killing GM is its profit margins on vehicles built and sold in the US. Then its the union, GM has to make a certian amount of products yearly. GM cant just say hey sales have dropped a bit of the Cobalt so lets cut production on it. So then while GMs sales have been falling its cars have been piling up. GM has a great plan for 2006 but what was threatening to kill that plan was the large amount of 2005 vehicles that were around. They got rid of them in a very costly employee discount program but the point is those vehicles are gone. They have been cutting back production of older ones to get ready for newer ones. The big news will be the GMT-900's, GM will be able to sell them without offerinf incentives on them. And thats a big key and the hype of being new will carry them for a whole year not to mention just being worlds better then anyother full size SUVs. After that the GMT-900's will get GMs new hybrid technology that its also sharing with BMW and Mercedes. That will fix most of their money issues for the most part and keep losses in North America low enough for other markets to cancel them out and GM can come out in the black in 2006.

With that said and as Forbes stated GM wont even qualify for bankruptcy for years now. When you have well over 200 billion in assets, 20 billion in your pocket and another 30 billion in a palce that you can get fast you can not file for protection.

And the most over played arguement agianst GM is the Cobalt, people complain about its fuel economy when it can get 40+MPG on the highway.
