Old warbird

This morning I was out washing the wife's trailblazer when I heard the sound of loud propeller driven plane . I loked up and flying over head was a B 17 Flying Fortress. It was beautiful looking. According to the local news, it was headed for the Air Force muesum at Wright Patterson Air Force base. Wish I had had my camera so I could have taken a picture.

There ya go!

I don't get many planes coming over my house, but it was a hoot to see 2 bi-planes a few weeks ago with a WW2 fighter behind them. I ran in the house and managed to get my wife and son into the backyard in time.

Must have been going to an airshow or something.

Living close to Wright Patterson Air Force base and the Air Force muesum, we've gotten to see many different military planes such as the B 52, B 1 B bomber, the F 117 stealth fighter and B 2 stealth bomber and even the space shuttle riding piggyback on a 747. We have also seen old planes such as the P51 Mustang. The highlite of sittings was the arrival of the SR 70 spy plane and the 707 Air Force 1 which were flown to the muesum to be put on display. (note all planes at the muesum are in flight worthy condition and if you ever visit the Dayton Ohio area, you need to stop at the muesum. It is full of aviation history.

We live on the landing path of Ellington Field south of Houston. That is where Air Force 1 is kept when in Houston and also the home of many of the Confederate Air Force, which has B-17, and many other old warbirds. It is also the home for all of the NASA aircraft.

Not too long a go I was in my front yard and saw a B-2 Stealth Bomber on approach and as I watched its landing gears came down. Really cool site.

They were flying to the biggest airshow in the USA in Oshkosh WI. The EAA airshow is something you need to see at least once in your life. The aerobatic pilots are the best in the world and perform mind boggling stunts!!
