Its terrible that Chevy couldn't change more of it and put bigger scoops or more design into the side panel. I am sure this car is very fast, but I'm not happy with little change. Please made the C7 something to talk about.

I see pros and cons:

+ approx. 115 more hp
- approx. 200 lbs more
+ better brakes
- lower red line by 500 rpm
+ better clutch
- msrp about $25k higher (?)
+ better transmission (ratio and durability)
- for me the T/A gills (this is subjective, some may like)
+ bigger wheels and tires
- Not sure about hood yet, will have to see live to make final judgement (but for now a -)
+ supposedly will take more lateral G's
- I can't afford one now
+ beefed up half shafts and drive shaft to take the torque
+ a few minor things like 220 mph speedo, carbon fiber
hood, roof etc.
- for me only, I prefer Normally Aspirated over Supercharged and I like the idea of 7L over 6.2L
(this also is subjective and others may like otherwise)

I'm sure there are more +'s & -'s that will come to mind.
For now the + have a slight edge over - for me.
If I had that kind of money I would buy one, but I will have to hit lottery to do that. If I could buy one I would
keep my Z06 for the daily driver.

Well... my next barn addition will be a new Camaro when they come out. Sometimes I need a rear seat!

to tell you the truth i like it, i mean we all do, its a 620hp king of the road corvette. the problem i think is that we all over anticipated and everyone had their wild ideas, some people wanted a revamped interior, other wanted a radical body, others wanted super light weight and max power. gm knew that oculdnt do this for under 100k and if they did make it super expensive the car would loose its essence as an affordable supercar killer. i like it how gm did a little of everything, some interior, some exterior and alot of performance. gotta remember that what the aftermarket is for, to make the car you want, im sure there will be a plethora of interior/ exterior goodies to set off the zr1.

i wonder how much that supercharged 6.2 will make with more boost, ~700rwhp?

I LOVE IT, its amazing!!! But didn't they leave some low hanging fruit on the tree (below)? IMHO the ZR1's only possible weakness is its extra weight and forward bias. If anything holds back interest in this car that would be it. Extra content would add cost but if the car is right people will pay for it. Now if they sell all 2000 per year without big discounts then none of this matters and I'm full of it.

Magnesium castings for the intake/blower, oil pan, accessory brackets, etc.
Titanium exhaust manifolds and cats
Magnesium wheels
Titanium coil over shocks
Polycarbonite rear window
Higher redline - if LS7 can spin to 7K why can't the smaller LS9?
Non-runflat Pilot Sport Cup tires - this alone would drop seconds off the 'ring time

Cool

I'm not really sure about the c6 style. it kinda looks like a cross between the viper and an egg. but i want that engine, i want that engine, i want that engine sooooo bad i can taste it. GO ZR1 PACKAGE!!!
I always wish i had the zr-1 package for my C4, but that is an incredible motor. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think has the same engine mount setup as the C4.

So, who wants to give a member of the armed forces a really awsome new years/christmas gift?

You'd be better off just buying a C4 ZR-1. And yes it is an incredible motor.
Don't forget we're talking about a 5.7L motor, not a 6.2 or a 7.0. With headers and porting the plenum, you're looking at low 12's at 118-120mph.

It's all in the stirring of the soup!

For those of us old foagies that have always wanted a Corvette but never could afford that in addition to raisng kids, mortgages and 50+ hour work weeks for chicken scratch and 20+ Years in the US Navy, to finally be able to have one for me is a true blessing. Like a reward for all the years of patience, hard work and tenacity. Add to this the double blessing that I am really frothing at the idea of buying this C7 ZR-1 at 100k or not and I am humbled. To all of you that are multiple Corvette owners, you, I hope, really are appreciative of your blessings..ie Patrick..I love my C5 vert and, it, like I knew it would, only makes me want more. I am now working hard to eliminate all my debt including my home so that by 2010 or 2011 I can pay cash for a shiny new ZR1 while I'm still young enough and healthy enough to enjoy it. Those near my age (50) that are now experiencing their first vette (or as my daughter calls it, "Mid Life Crisis") know how I feel. As for those much younger that have this awsome machine in their hands, How cool is that. As I said before I got my Kids their hot rods (G-35 Coupe and Nissan 350Z) before I got my wife and I ours. (We saved the best for last huh??) God bless all of you and the very best in 2008 to you as well.

Oh Hell No!!!LOL

I just got rid of the 2 weeds I have now..More Kids???? You should seek pschiatric assistance for the mere suggestion.. They're too damn expensive or aka Corvette Blockers. I/We have this small window of opportunity between getting them gone and having them return with "grand-children???" where my wife and I can grab up a few things for ourselves
So far one C5 with hopefully a C7 in the near future...After that My Lap is once more open for the bouncing babies...LOL

So is the blower a roots type or Lysholm(Whipple). Autoweek says Roots but I thought it was a Lysholm.
