There is a motel close that we stayed in last time, When we get a better hand of the people, we well try to get a group rate, I don't remember the price. We will find out.

It's a fun, open course. The map doesn't show it, but between #3 and #4 there's a slight grade change, and a very slight kink. It really eggs you on to let the rear end out.

I've also wanted to highlight iburke's braking point entering turn 3.
It may actually be even later and more brief than the map shows.

Good God. I'm not sure I could walk if I had a pair big enough to brake there...

The front straight is a shade over 1/4 mile long at 1423'. Someone like me will probably see low 130's or so before getting out of the gas just judging by the measurements. Ivan will probably be around 350mph when he thinks about slowing down...
I have not yet set foot on this track, so that's just an educated guess.

Thanks for the response. Seems like a decent speed to be hitting on that straight. Looks like a nice track. Hope to make this happen.!

So I've never been on a race track before (drag strips not being factored in since its no help) and I would probably run a beginner session to start. What's the limits? Am I going to be able to go all out with my car after a few laps? Gradually push it? Or will I be forced to baby my Z06 I want to beat this car like it owes me money

Typically with a beginner group, you limit some things like passing in corners and whatnot for safety reasons. You need to use your first sessions for learning the track, learning your lines, braking points, etc. Once you understand all that, you can start to pick up speed and learn more car control. If you want to keep the pedal on the floor on the straights, that's fine after you've learned when to brake. You don't just hit the track for the first time and decide you can toss your car into a corner deeper than anyone else. Drive within yourself and learn from every lap. The speed will come.

I'll tell you now, it doesn't matter how many road races you've watched, you don't really understand the physics of it all until you've done it. Just make sure to remember MY two rules:
1. Be safe
2. Have fun
If you do that, you can't go wrong.

Good advice, I would always use my head and not go all out throwing my car all over the place. I have no problem having passing restrictions on cars because everyone else will probably be faster anyway I wouldn't want to hurt my car let alone ANYONE'S car.
