If we did the car red, we were going to call it REDRUM. I just did a google of that just now and found out there is a new camaro with that name already. *grr* May still go with it though. 2 different cars 35 years apart. It would fit on the license plates and that would be cool to see.
I also thought it might be kind of funny to have plates that say "ELLIS ONE". Most folks would not get it but 'vette guys would.
I guess I am about done with the Damplifier install. I used up most of the second box, but saved a few sheets for the doors. I got most of everything done in back and might add some later on after the car is done. I need to move on. Photos soon. Back to the garage for me.
Reds a nice color for a sports car Brent I really like the one you have picked out also the one on the DC logo at the top of every page is nice. I have seen photos of it and its perfect.

I know what you mean about the corvette names I have been trying to decide on a name for mine and it seems every name I pick someone else has used it.

I LOVE the banner car. I have seen pictures of it on a website. Also a 73, right?
As far as names that have not been used, how about "Larry". I bet nobody has used that yet :-)
Here are some (pretty bad) photos of the interior of the car as of tonight.

And here is one under the car.

496 Mark? Holy cow. Got torque?
Tonight I called the original owners of our 'vette. I have a ton of paperwork that Josh gave me with the car including the original owner's name on all of the service records. I know they had the car for about 20 years and I assume they wondered what happened to it. I talked to the wife and she seemed happy to hear it was still around and getting rebuilt. She told me about the day they saw it on the lot and bought it. That was kind of fun for me to hear about. She said they are more of a volvo-driving crowd now.
When I get the car done I am going to send them some photos.

I have been working on a lot of little things. The interior is pretty well done. I will get the carpet in when it gets here and then hopefully figure out how to put the interior back together. That was all pulled out when I got the car so that will be an adventure.
I took the U-joints out and I am going to take the drive shaft over to Nate at Heartland Rod and Custom to have it stripped and powder coated. Stripping won't take much since the paint on it now comes off if you touch it. Yea, that's gotta go.

Brent,

Love to watch your build! It's kind of nice to watch someone else get as completely filthy as I have been for the last year for a change!

You are doing a GREAT job. Keep it up!

BTW... I kind of like the name LARRY ... it's different!

Best,

Robert

Spent some time cleaning up and painting the center console plates and getting the mount for the stereo in. I still have some to do, but stuck the gauges in just because I wanted to see how it would look.

I have been working on putting the front end back together. I can't remember if it has to come back off to put the body back on. I think it does. Either way, I wanted to get it sorted out and get the necessary bolts accounted for as well as getting some of the parts off of the shelves so it looks like I have been working.

Yesterday I took the A/C box apart and cleaned it up. I don't know what they used for the gasket type stuff between the 2 halves of the boxes and also where the blower mounts onto the box. It looks similar to plumbers putty. Does anyone know what that stuff is?

This is my tricked out cross member. :-)

Okay, back to the garage!

The wheels came in today!
I bought the old wheels from Kaos and today the UPS guy stopped by to drop them off. I have a new set of rear tires in the next stall. For some reason there is no tread on the back

Now all of a sudden my rotors look small. :-(
I tore apart the AC/Heater control last night and am in the process of bringing it back to life. Pictures on that soon.
Hope you all have a great weekend and get to drive your cars or find time to work on them if that is the case. I know where I will be.

WoW, it's looking great. As you start to install the flares on the body to cover those huge wheels, you're going to make me antsy to do mine, and I will have to order a set of the Custom Image flares for my ride. I hope you're a ways away from doing the body so I don't dive into my body and paint before I get the LS up and running. These damn forums with the great build threads that I am keeping track of, are killing me, I need to find time to make some serious progress on mine.

Funny how a set of wheels changes the appearance of even a frame with no body on it. After you installed the new wheels, you've got to be pumped to see the car come together at this point, bringing more excitement to the build.

Have you taken another video of you setting on the temporary trans cross member pretending to be driving and slamming gears yet? Like you did when you were sitting in the engine bay when you first started the project? Time for another video.

Riggs.

Wow Brent

You are making great progress. At this pace you will be finished next year. I am projecting mine will be done in 2013. Keep up the good work and pictures. I cant imagine why those rear tires have no tread left on them. Mark
