Optimists think the glass is half full.
Pessimists think the glass is half empty.
Engineers realize it's twice as big as it needs to be.

I have been out of commission for a while, but have been working at it when I could. I have been working on getting some second skin in the cabin.

I tried to lay some second skin over the existing stuff that was sprayed in there. I thought it would just help to dampen things. WRONG. I wasted a sheet because the old stuff just peeled up underneath it. (this is the bottom of the sheet)

So I cleaned up the area with a wire brush and some sand paper. The floor pans were in really good shape. (Thanks again, Josh)

I was pretty sure I did not have enough of the damplifier pro to do everything I wanted and would need more anyway, so I spent a few days doing the firewall and up under the dash while I have it all apart.
The heater core looks great! That too made me happy.

The other day I cleaned up the fuel lines. Spent a few hours sanding them down and painting them. For some reason I blew into the return line and realized (only then) that it was plugged. I went ahead and ordered both of them. Kind of a waste of time, but that happens.

I got the main starter cable put back on. It will have to come back off at some point, but I wanted to get it cleaned up and out of the way.

I got the second skin laid in the front of the car. Today I spent the day cleaning up the back so I can do that next. Sitting backward in a corvette is not really that comfortable. I am really NOT looking forward to trying to lay that stuff in the back. I did a little bit of it in Kaoss, but it was a rag top. I am not sure how I am going to get back in my car.

I am hoping that my wheels will be in sometime in the next few weeks. I can't wait to see them mounted up on the car!
I am starting to think about the stereo. I got one of these coming in soon:

I am going to shave the radio antenna since I don't ever listen to the radio. I will just hook an iPod into this and be done. Now I just need to figure out where to put the speakers and amp(s).

That's the problem with old cars.....you spend so much more time cleaning and painting then you do bolting the good stuff on. Oh well, at least the final product is better then anything on showroom floors!

Looks great!

Stereo? I thought you was running the old school stereo, 4'' side pipes playing that awesome tune from under the hood. LOL
I installed a head unit with the intentions of running an amp and larger speakers, but every time I take the car out I am more interested in listening to the sweet sound of the car, especially lately with open headers. Does that make me sound a little crazy? LOL

Crazy? Yup. Nothing about these cars is practical, comfortable, or convenient. That makes all of us crazy to different extents.
As for the stereo: I know what you mean Riggs. I am not even sure if I will listen to it so I am not going to go crazy with it.
SuprJames:sending you a PM now.

Looking good Brent

I saw a post some time ago on a antenna that was hidden inside the car. I think with the fiberglass body the antenna will work hidden without interfering with reception. I am going to experiment with this on my car. Mark

That is a good point, Mark. I might fool around with that also if I have time. I don't think I will ever use the radio, but if I can have it just in case, I might as well.

Looking good, Brent. My 73 is ready for the wire brush and scraper treatment on the interior, but I have been puting it off for about 10 months now...I guess I better put it back on the to-do list.

I was looking at that same radio for my Dodge truck. Who needs a tape or CD player anymore. I keep the songs I like on my iPhone, and with Pandora, I can listen to anything I want to. I will problaby also get the XM antenna. I like the comedy channels on long trips.

Show us some pictures of the second skin installed.

Spent the day after work getting the rest of the back cleaned up. Man that is nasty stuff. I am too old and too tall for that work.
I have been thinking about the antenna more. I may mount it in the flying buttress. It would be easy to do. If it works, great.. if not.. nothing lost.

We have been going back and forth on what color to do the car. I saw this one and decided that red it is.

Anybody recognize that car? I love it.
If we did the car red, we were going to call it REDRUM. I just did a google of that just now and found out there is a new camaro with that name already. *grr* May still go with it though. 2 different cars 35 years apart. It would fit on the license plates and that would be cool to see.
I also thought it might be kind of funny to have plates that say "ELLIS ONE". Most folks would not get it but 'vette guys would.
I guess I am about done with the Damplifier install. I used up most of the second box, but saved a few sheets for the doors. I got most of everything done in back and might add some later on after the car is done. I need to move on. Photos soon. Back to the garage for me.

Brent, that is Red 73's car from the CF, that car has always been one of my favorites.
