I just recently updated this thread talking about how I had to make absolutely no adjustments when I changed wheels...

Unable to Lower Front??

Hey everyone - I'm brand new here but have a question.

I took my vette to get the front lowered (obviously before I saw this thread) and the mech informed me that he could not do it because the bolt had rusted on and that I would need to by a new leafspring... Does that make sense to you guys?

Thanks for your input.

Since you need an alignment after you lower the car, just have them lower it when it's on the rack. There is no disassembly required.

Hey guys I lowered my C5 this weekend and man does it look good. I removed the front bolts and lowered the factory rear bolts all the way. I want to bring down the back a little more, i understand about the longer rear bolts but I have a question. I need the exact specs on the rear bolts I need, this is what I know so far:

Grade 8
7" Long
Goldish Color
What is the diameter I need?

Also what is the length of our factory bolt? I have yet to see a 7" grade 8 bolt, the longest I've seen is 6"

14mm diameter by 150 length is what I bought at a local fastener store. I'm not sure what the 150 stands for, but the charts are common in the fastener stores.

I used 9" long bolts in the rear. They had to be cut off a rod.Hawaii nut and bolt doesn't even carry anything longer than 6".I used grade 8 heat treated, they were black.
I also removed the front bolts all together,i even trimmed the two inboard pads were the brackets are, modded the brackets some.No tire gap,and absolutly no way to run a front air dam,i never had any cooling issues.

Who here has used c6 lowering bolts. I ordered a pair but wasnt what i expected. The bolt looks bigger then a C5 just from looking at it. Could be wrong allso the head of the bolt has a big hockey puck on it. Its allmost as thick as the rubber bushing on the C5 bolts. To make them work did anyone have to grind down the head of the bolt ?

I got mine from WCC and ya they looked kinda like a hockey puck on the end bolt size and thread pitch are the same as a C5 and I got about another 3/4" drop out of my Z51 suspension.

awesome, thanks for the fast reply man. Cool i will just put them in, and where it lowers the front end so be it . I will just raise the back to macth. Right now my back end is lowwwww

Having the dealership put on blisten shocks all the way around. When they are doing that i will have them just pop in the bolts.
