Nitrous Problem

I have a stock 2008 auto. I added a 65 horse wet shot using a single fogger nozzle. I am no stranger to nitrous. I started using it in 1990. The problem is that when I sprayed it at the track I gained absolutely nothing in a performance gain on the first shot. And yes the lines were purged...950lbs bottle pressure. I then shut the bottle off and then discovered that the car slowed down from running 8.41 to a 9.16 1/8 mile e.t. After some discussion with my friend and tuner we decided to disconnect the battery and let everything reset back to the factory settings. It worked... the car ran an 8.43 @87 mph. We believe that the Torque management took control and kept me from going quicker and then reset the tables and that is why I slowed. My question is can I tune around this problem? What is the cure? Thanks Doug

Have your Tuner help make you a datalog at the track.
Ask him to be there next time your at the track with his laptop & HP tuners he uses.
Datalog a run.

I would shut the Torque Managment off disabled.

I agree! from what I have read the torque management on the c6 is much more sophisticated than the c5. I believe a retune will be mandatory before any further attempt can be made with nitrous. I was hoping that someone else had already been thru this process and would chime in on exactly what they did to overcome this problem.

If your ecu picked up some noise on the knock sensors when you shot the juice it may have shifted to the low octane timing table and remembered that in volatile memory. I only say this because torque management doesn't use volatile memory and shouldn't change its state or function with the battery disconnected as you describe. That sounds like a stored code that got cleared or adaptive strategies that got reset.

If you can post up a tune file(.hpt) with a log file(.hpl) I would be happy to take a look and give you my honest opinion.

And yes C5 and C6 torque management are different.
