Ladies (and Gents) It's Ring Shopping Time

So yes...sometime here in the near future, I'll be getting engaged. I want her to be able to see the ring I have chosen without knowing that it's the one...but I want to be sure she doesn't hate it. So I'm going to bring her to the store and look at a number of rings, with my favorite mixed in. What does everyone think?

It all depends on HER taste. She'll be the one wearing it and looking at it daily. What you have in mind is a very good plan. I did something rather similar to my now wife when I was shopping for her. Listen to everything she says closely. She may like something about this ring but something else about another. The one I had picked out on my own for her was not the one I wound up getting as she fell in love with rings of a completely different style. I think I got across the point I was trying to say.

Good luck and congrats.

As the poster about me said. If you really want her opinion your idea of mixing in what you like is a good idea. I personally don't like it other than that it's not yellow gold. I hate yellow gold.

Now that I did the part you wanted I'll go on to say that marriage is a waste of time.

ouch.

Take her, watch her face as she browses. You will find the right one without her saying anything.

That depends. I'll need to see pics, a resume, and a financial statement. (Of the girl.)

you guys are brutal...but what did i expect?

i do want her to have what she wants...but there's just something kinda messed up about her just getting to pick the ring she wants.

"if you really love me, you'll buy me this"
as opposed to
"wow, you love me so much you bought me that"

The most important part is knowing what type of metal she wants and what diamond cut she likes. From those you can cut the selection from infinity to about 10 million rings.

I like the ring, but I agree that it hides the diamond a little too much.
