C8 Interior UPDATED!

….and there's the regular leather steering wheel. Alcantara will be optional.

Appears to be the Alcantara synthetic that looks like suede but is MUCH heartier. The C6 first offered this on one of their special editions. When the part price came down I replaced my steering wheel, shift knob, break handle and console cover with the GM parts. Love this stuff. I keep a small brass brush in my console and when I'm stuck in a line, long light or the freeway, I'll give the appropriate part a brushing and dust will fly. The suede feel and look comes right back and never seems to lose any fiber.
Don't know if the SW will only be covered with Alcantara - probably not - or if regular leather will be standard. Given the choice I'd always opt for the Alcantara. Not as hot when you have no choice but to park in the So Cal Summer Sun, grips better than leather, and looks like it wears better than leather. FWIW

Any thoughts on the silver "Z" button on the wheel? Mode selector???
IMHO, it looks like an upgrade as much as I liked the C7 wheel.

The "Z" button is probably a Zoom for the rear camera screen in the 'normally a mirror' top center that we are used to seeing our rear glass distortions in. Now it will probably NOT be a real mirror, just a camera view screen with a normal 'mirror view' mode or anywhere from ultra wide to zoom in tight …. so you can see that Ford GT waaaaaay back there that you passed.
You're probably right about the Alcantara being optional. I'm sure some of you don't like it as much as I do and the last thing they want is to lose a sale because of a steering wheel. That said, I doubt that it is significantly more expensive than leather and producing ONE steering wheel would be cheaper than lots of different colors of leather - but as I said, I doubt they will not offer the leather as standard.

Sold!!! The only issue I have with the interior is that strip with all the buttons. I will wait to pass judgement till I can see it in person.

Looks like the Z button is more than camera control. Not sure of the row of buttons and how it is so driver-centric, but the fit and finish and quality of material looks good.

It looks great for the most part, but no way in heck would I buy a first or even possibly second year model. Let the bugs and revisions get addressed.

Yeah, I missed that one by a mile...thought there would be vents in the frunk hood too.

Sat in the C8 this weekend. For the first time, you can actually believe when they say that there is a feeling of quality. Better than Ferrari and on par with Mercedes. Everything feels solid . No flimsy shit here. The dash won't melt like recent Ferraris
