Burma Shave

I'm sure that Burma Shave actually saved some lives. People laughed and they were more careful! It was a REAL "service" to America, even though it was an advertisement and it was one of the RARE "really useful" ones!
To My Old-As-Dirt Friends and Relatives who qualify as "old as dirt."

For those who never saw any of the Burma Shave signs, here is a quick lesson in our history of the 1930's and '40's. Before there were interstates when everyone drove the old 2-lane roads, Burma Shave signs would be posted all over the countryside in farmers' fields. They were small red signs with white letters. Five signs, about 100 feet apart, each containing 1 line of a 4 line couplet and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma Shave, a popular shaving cream.

Do these bring back any old memories?
If not, you're merely a child.
If they do - then you're old as dirt -

LIKE ME! In fact I am so old the dead sea was just getting sick!!

RACING...Because with baseball, football, basketball, tennis, and golf, you only need one ball

I used to think that I had learned patience as I got older. Then I realized that I just didn't give a shit

I remember those Burma Shaves well. I had a birthday yesterday. The 52nd anniversary of my 21st birthday. Me, Methuselah, mountains and dirt are about the same age.

Speaking of Methuselah and the bible, I just found out the bible talks about donkey dicks and horse sperm. Can someone explain Ezekiel 23:20 to me. Maybe I read it wrong.

Quote:
Ezekiel 23:20

20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

Burma-Shave sign series first appeared on U.S. Highway 65 near Lakeville, Minnesota, in 1926, and remained a major advertising component until 1963 in most of the contiguous United States.

I was too young to remember any of them - if I even happened to see any. So I don't personally have any memories of them.
