1991 power seat help

Hello Everyone. I need some advice on my 1991 power seat electrical problem. Does anyone know the purpose of the 3 amp diode between the orange/blk wire and the blk ground wire on the power seat connector that is just under the power seat switches. The diode is causing a dead short. Can I just eliminate the diode? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I can't imagine deleting the diode would be a good thing. Diodes can do several different things like limit voltage or restrict voltage to one direction. It was there for a reason. Why not just replace it?

RACING...Because with baseball, football, basketball, tennis, and golf, you only need one ball

I used to think that I had learned patience as I got older. Then I realized that I just didn't give a shit

Thanks for your response Torch. Will do. I was trying to understand why it went bad when everything else checked out good according to FSM. And it's purpose for being there.
