In 1988, GM began development for the C5 Corvette. After the initial Alpha Builds underwent rigorous testing, the Beta Builds came into play to further the development of the C5. These builds perfected the use of Hydro-formed frame rails and the all new Gen III Power Plant. The white Beta Build was heavily camouflaged during testing to help GM engineers keep their research under wraps. With its Hydro-formed backbone frame, transaxle, and Gen III Power Plant, the C5 was already a quantum leap beyond the highly regarded C4. You can see this and other historic Corvettes in our MY Garage Museum and Retail Store here in Effingham, IL!
