This is my first Corvette. I've had eleven others since, but still have my original. My first job was at a gas station where the owner had THREE Vettes: a '61, a '62 and a '63. All were "Fuelie." I drove to work in a '55 Chrysler, then ran parts errands in a fuel injected '71 Corvette. I WAS NEVER THE SAM.

When I turned 25 years old, insurance rates dropped, and I purchased my first Corvette: a new 1972 convertible. After trading in my young wife's '67 Cougar, the payments were $138.50 a month for three years - while our house payments were $198.00.

I've owned it just over 40 years. It's a California car. The car has been slightly modified (engine, paint chrome, upholstory fabric, radio, etc.) but all changes can easily be eliminated for NCRS competition. Never damaged, never wrecked, never smoked in, never driven over railroad track at over 5 mph. Car has always been garaged & covered. Detailed regularly.

The engine was rebuilt about 10K miles ago by a guy who builds sprint car and drag boat motors. NUMBERS MATCH, but the engine has been balanced, blueprinted and a 400 stroker crank installed. After that, it also received 25 coats of hand-rubbed candy apple red paint.

Originally loaned by GM to Andy Granatelli, used in an STP commercial. I purchased it from Cormier Chevrolet in Long Beach, CA on May 21, 1972. Car is not perfect, but shows 40+ years of love and care.
