Looking at getting new rotors, calipers and pads for my Z. What size are the rotors on front and back? Also what do I look for in getting calipers? Is there a certain option the Z had?
Thanks
Luke
When I bought my ZR1 (April 2005) I replaced the brake pads a month after I bought it. It already had the cross drill/sloted rotors. The pads are still good sixty miles later. All my cars have cross drill/sloted rotors. The pads last longer & the cars stops better. My 2 cents on the subject.
What I've done is:
Replaced Stock Rotors Front 13" and Rear 12" with Baer Eradispeed Plus slotted/cross drilled rotors of the same size.
Replaced stock front calipers with Grand Sport calipers, they are stronger, with less flex. Painted the rear calipers black.
Replaced stock rubber brake lines with braided steel. Much less pedal mush.
I used Baer Sport Touring pads all around. I'm very happy with them. If they wear out I may change to Hawk (Spring Mountain Motorsports swears by them.)
Castrol SRF Synthetic Brake Fluid.
DRM brake bias spring.
Very little work, not a great deal of expense as opposed to going after market oversize, yet with a great deal of braking improvement.
