I have my car currently in a shop for repairs. They noticed my reverse lights weren't working fuse was blown, then traced it to a short in the abs module. For some reason the ABS needs to know when the car is in reverse. When the abs wire is taken out of the equation the reverse lights work fine. There are no codes being triggered, just shorts out and blows the fuse. They ran a new wire directly to the module with the same conclusion.

Why does the abs module need to know when the car is in reverse? Is it safe to driver the with the reverse wire disconnected from ABS module?

I can't find anyone for my year 1999 that will rebuild it. Anyone with knowledge where to find a replacement or rebuilt unit would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
