First, I notice that my 06 C6 that I just bought iks showing signs of damage from road debris. I need to drive mine as a daily driver so I expect some tear and wear but I really hate to mess up such a nice car... I read about those plastic film cover kits and I wonder how good they are and where to get one installed. Anybody has had experience with those?

Also, I'm thinking of having a Blinder installed. I had a Bel 904 in my EVO. I wonder if anybody can comment on that... Thanks in advance,

Manuel

Many have had the clear bra installed. Most have had good results, but the key is to make sure you have a highly recommended installer.

What the hell is a Blinder?

Front cover

Mey Mc6, I was on the fence too, and finally went with the GM leather($95), and I love it. It looks good and is easy. I live in Atlanta too, so I know the conditions. The clear cover is too permanent and affects the appearance of the car with a color like yours. FYI.. I have been washing and detailing cars for 20 years. For durability and serviceability, I like the leather.

I have the clear bra on my vette, absolutely worth every penny, plus u barely notice it, the key is in the installation. Those leather bras are a thing of the past and makes the car looks hokey. plus you can apply the clear bra on almost any part of the car u wish. I have it on the hood, mirrors, rocker panels, fenders, behind the front wheel, in front of the rear wheel, 2 custom cut pieces where the back of your hand touches when u open the door, 2 custom cut pieces around the edge of the door just in case i open the door too wide and hit something, and about 8 inches up on the door. my friend is an installer and did it almost at his cost for materials.I also had a product called Clearplex installed on the windshield to stop rocks from chipping or cracking the windshield, and this stuff really works although not an easy install (lots of heat and patience is needed but also worth every penny)

for radar detector reviews and such check out www.radarbusters.com they are really great. There are NO Radar jammars that work but there are some laser jammers that work but by the time they go off its too late to do anything. Just stick with a good radar detector like the V1 (Valentine 1) a bit price but the best money can buy.

The jammers work because they are actively blocking the laser beams. They do not react, theu are pro-active. As far as the V1 goes, I've tried those before and sent them back. IMHO, they are overpriced and too sensitive to false signals. Also, they were recently tested and found that they fail when exposed to high temperatures such as being exposed to direct sunlight as inside the car under the winsdshield. I use the Bel X65 or the Passport, they are both superior in all ways.

IMO, you would have to blanket the car to protect it. My worst chips are on the mirrors. Putting the car on the track at close to 150 has taught me a lot about where the car will be damaged. Fender sills, rear bottom corners of the door openings, ufnder the grill opening get sand blasted at speed.

As Patrick says "our cars have scars". I will touch up until I think I need to get the finsihing "refreshed" by a professional.

I am going to have to disagree about the leather bras being passe'. Of course it's all personal taste. But I do think the color of the car has a lot to do with the appeal of a nose cover. The black bra really works with my already Atomic/Black combo. A monterey red with saddle trim may not look as good. But don't hate on the leather...leather is your friend.

:agree: with the 8500X50 being the best, and the Bels are made by the same company. Laser 'jammers' don't jam, they send additional signals back to the receiver that give an unreliable return. They are illegal in the People's Democratic Rebuplik of Kalifornia and other states. The best do work. A vette is a poor target for any mw transmission anyway--no front plate makes it even worse. The range they can bullseye us at is about the shortest out there--again, with no plate. The laser jammers may buy you just the time you need to spot the doughnut eater. (look for Dunkin Doughnut bags blowing around in the wind...:spanked: )

Actually, IMO, the factory vinyl bra looks better on the MR/Cashmere combo than it does on your AO. We bought the GM piece as a stopgap solution until we could get the clear put on, and Nancy decided she liked the look. Of course, she doesn't have to put it on & take it off for cleaning; it is a bit of a pain, compared to the Colgan I have on my GTO.

regards, billb....
