Hi Max. Glad you started posting.

The guy who'll know best is GTR1999. He'll probably chime in here shortly with exactly what you're looking for.

The shafts from the 80-82 are different then the 63-79's used. The 63-74 used a 2.5 shaft and the 75-79 used a 3" shaft. The u-joints are all the same, 1350's. I only use cold forged solid Spicer joints but there are a lot of others out there. Be sure to get the correct flanges for the pre 80 shafts to mate with the correct spindle flanges.

The C2/C3 Corvette drive shaft (propeller shaft) from transmission to differential is 2" and uses 1310 u-joints or 1330 u-joints (later models).

The half shafts are probably what GTR1999 was referring to... They are 2 1/2" through ~1974 and are 3" afterward. Both sizes of half shafts use 1350 u-joints.

If you have a mismatch between the trans (or diff) yoke and the drive shaft end, use one of the adapter u-joints, which will connect a 1310 to a 1330, or vice versa, or to whatever you have. Try this link for more information:

Cheers!

Larry is correct, I was referring to the 1/2 shafts. Sorry I get more questions on 1/2 shaft joints then driveshaft joints.

If you have a '73, why mess with the 80-82 half shafts with smaller u-joints? It looks like the lengths are different too, as you show in your pictures, but I don't have any experience with 80-82.

The earlier posts about the diameter of the half shafts is correct, but both use the 1350 u-joint. IDK about the u-joints for 80-82.

hi i have now bought stock 3" shafts for my 73 corvette
so just wanted to know about the joint, everybody said that the joint is the same 1350 but that s not the case for the 80-82shafts. just wanted everyboy to know that to.

where do i find the strongest joints for halfshafts and the drive shaft?

All 63-74 halfshafts are 2 1/2 inch
All 75 82 halfshafts are 3 in
All 63-79 halfshafts are the same length
All 63-79 use 1350 u-joints
All 82 use 1350 u-joints
80-81 automatic use 1330 u-joints
80-81 4speeds use 1350 u-joints
All 80-82 halfshafts will not work in a 63-79
Hope this helps clear it up

Besides the different u-joint sizes, the 80-82 halfshafts are a different length
