I am looking to change out my mild Edelbrock Performer hydraulic cam.
I want a little more power and a lumpy idle with out loosing vacuum.
I have the Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and intake with a little over 9 to 1 compression. I am looking at the Edelbrock 5002 that should work ok with my heads and still use hydraulic lifters.

Is there a better cam available?

You're saying "mild" so I assume you have the Performer cam and not the Performer RPM cam.

Summit 1103 would be a nice upgrade and still be driveable with good low end power and vacuum. You'll need 1.6 ratio rocker arms, the lift is a little low with stock rocker arms.

I did type the RPM sorry.
This is the specs on the cam I am looking at. I think it will preform and give a lumpy idle?

Hey Dean,

well... most questions have been answered .... just keep in mind that it's easy to 'overcam' an engine, the higher the duration and the better the idle sounds the worse the low end power and the vacuum gets.
A cam with Intake 212-218 and exhaust 222-230 duration range with a 110 or 112 degrees LS is about as much as you want for a mild 350ci SB.
Anything with more duration or 108 degrees LS will compromise low end power and vacuum.....

The Performer cam is actually more like a truck cam (for towing applications)... I had the same cam in my 350, it was not too bad... lots of power from idle to 4000rpm.... nothing above 4000.... but almost like a Diesel it would go from 700rpm...... :smack

Does Edelbrock give a compression ratio range for the cam you're interested in? 9:1 seems a little low for the duration you're talking about with aluminum heads. You'll need some gears with that cam I would think.

Big blocks are more tolerant of a bigger cam than small blocks. You can see the cam specs for my car below (230/238/110). Click on "My Videos" under my avatar and view the video "14 Degrees". The idle you'll have will be worse than my bomb.
