Comparing the 01 LS6 to the 02 LS6 these changes were noted:

The 02 used hollow stem valves, higher lift cam shaft, a lower restriction mass air flow sensor, a lower restriction air cleaner design, and eliminated the PUP converter from the exhaust system.

There may be other changes as well.

It also has a larger mouth on the airbox.

If ever your shopping either a 2001 or 2002 z06? I'd say decide up front if your going to keep it internally stock. If you are then go for the 2002 z but if your planning a few internal mods then the 2001 is a hell of a deal.

Good luck as the c5 z is definitely like driving a race car on the street.

Half a decade later and I'm still smiling every time I'm driving this thing.

Got up this morning at 4 am and half the motivation to head over to the gym was the drive in the Z to get there and back.

Bottom line is dropping a mild aftermarket cam and headers in a 2001 Z is not a bad way to go.
