Amazing job again Brent, i love the console. Actually the whole interior.
I too like your C4-seats more than the later ones, it made me even think if i should stick with my 82 seats for a moment (but i`m old-style, sat well in my 81-seats and don`t want to give up the electric seat).
How do they look on the back, full leather too ?
You can be proud of all the custom work you did on that car.

Man you had a fight, i only knew about Sidepipes. Glad you are better.
Did i already say i like the console ?

Brent, your car is looking fantastic! I've been off of my car quite a bit for the last year as all the time is a big sacrifice to my business and other projects. But every time I check out your thread and new posts it really renews my enthusiasm to get it finished. Man those seats are awesome! Console too. I'm glad you and Sidepipes are enjoying driving, that means a lot.
So glad that you guys are fighters and doing well, my brother has been battling s4 colon cancer since Feb. He's actually doing well too, I think he'll be ok. All the best to you and Sidepipes. :thumbsup:

Ive read through this thread several times over several years, and to say I'm impressed with the work quality and detail work, that went into the vettes in the thread, is an obvious understatement.:thumbsup:
WOW! having done some similar projects I know the time and effort required is amazing and just the small parts tools required, the welding skills, trips to get supplies, and time spent looking for the harder to find parts and waiting on simple stuff like getting the correct welding rods and shield gas, sand paper, paint,fasteners,solvents disposable bits, nozzles , brushes and hydraulic fittings, and mask filters tape, adds up far faster than those of us that have not done this type of work could ever understand, then theres always the minor screw-ups that need to be corrected,and the time spent looking for the small part or supplies you purchased two months ago On sale for 1/2 price, you bought in bulk that you can,t locate until the day after you give up looking for them, and buy more! and the people that drop by with projects you really can,t avoid that screw up your (free time):crazy::laughing:
on the PLUS SIDE, if your a tool junkie like I am theres always an endless list of new or better, tools you can easily justify buying... just no cash to do so!

You said a mouthful there Grumpy! No way to explain to others what it takes to do this.
A diesel mechanic friend of mine came by to find my car on the lift, he couldn't believe it wasn't frame off. After really looking it over for quite a while he said "I can see ten thousand hours". He's been there and done that so he really knows. Not 10,000 I'm sure but waaay more than I had planned!
I just wish mine looked as good as Brents. :cheers:

I am in the process of building a flared 69 Convertible here are a few pictures, it is in primer and just playing with a few different stripe designs.

I was playing around in Photoshop with Larry the other day and made him (and other cars) into micro machines...
I had one of those photos for my wallpaper on my work computer. A maintenance guy came in to talk to me and saw the photoshop job i had done. I said, "I did that" and kind of chuckled. He said, "oh, man. I liked it better before. I can't believe you did that".
I said, "you know that is just photoshop, right?" and he said, "oh good"
My 'shopping skills are not that good. He is just not that quick.

Larry got some new gauges!
There are some more winter upgrades that are getting finished up now and will post soon, but I was able to get Larry out on the road again for a couple of days before the weather turned ugly again. :-(

They are Dakota Digital HDX from CIC so they match the stitching I had done on my seats.
There is a ton of things you can program on the and they actually have an app for that. here is the part where you set the colors of the faces, needles, etc.

well that escalated quickly...

Larry and I made our annual trip to South Dakota to the Custom Image BBQ. The original plan was to get some paint done. I had an incident early this season where we bottomed out the car on a bridge and the tire cracked the fender. I did a fiberglass repair, but couldn't fix the paint, so put a section of Plasti-dip on both fenders for a "track day" look.

So the guys at CIC touched up the paint and fixed a few other things and laid new clear down.

As I was going up there I got to thinking about the front tires. They look great, but I started to think ... I have had them on the car for a number of years, and they were on the black 69 before that. So i checked the date codes and they were over 11 years old. So...

I have a drive line vibration and am out of room to change the pinion angle so we were going to shim the rear diff a bit to make a more favorable angle, but then realized that they could not be installed because the transverse leaf was in the way. The plan was always to upgrade to Ride Tech so this seemed like the logical time.

and of course you can't upgrade the suspension without doing some better brakes.
When we dropped the Diff one of the stub axles stuck out so we assumed it had worn down and the clip came off. We took the diff apart. We did not expect to find this:

I had the tops off and good light in the shop so I took a couple of photos of the interior.

the next day we got things tightened down and aligned and at 3:00 in the afternoon Larry and I took off for our 500 miles back to Iowa.

On the way home the speedo quit on my gauges. This is the third VSS i have had fail. I am not sure why that is happening.
We made it home fine. It was a great trip. Larry got a lot more love than we had originally planned.
Next up on the want list is a new controller by Dakota Digital that matches the HDX gauges.
